If there’s any film that deserved to become a major horror franchise, it’s Jeepers Creepers – a huge hit which managed so far to spawn only one sequel. But it looks like Jeepers Creepers 3 is happening soon. The film is headed to the upcoming EFM in Berlin and it’s planned to have the original writer/director from the first two movies, Victor Salva, helm this new entry. It is also expected to have Myriad Pictures produce the film like they did the first two, with Francis Ford Coppola, Kirk Shaw, and Stan Spry producing while Kirk D’Amico is executive producing.…

The 1980’s and 1990’s had many horror franchises to offer – Halloween, Friday The 13th, A Nightmare On Elm Street, Hellraiser, Child’s Play, and so forth. What about the 2000’s? Not so much. The only franchise that could truly meet that level would be the Saw series which premiered in 2004. The first film was created by James Wan and Leigh Whannell. It was then followed by a sequel each year after until Saw: 3D in 2010, where the franchise was said to have ended. But, after years of murmurs about a new movie, it appears that Lionsgate has began to…
A few months ago we were treated to an announcement from Gun Media for a new Friday The 13th video game; the first since 1989. It was stated the game would focus on asymmetrical multiplayer. Originally titled Slasher Vol. 1: Summer Camp, it sought to be a tribute to 1980’s slasher flicks. The developers gathered the help of Friday The 13th alumni Tom Savini, Kane Hodder, and Harry Manfredini. Eventually it came to the attention of Sean Cunningham, the director of the original Friday The 13th, who allowed the developers the right to use the successful franchise for their game. The announcement was followed soon…

Harley Quinn Smith, the daughter of director Kevin Smith, revealed a recent story of when she was almost kidnapped by two men. She was standing outside of a Starbucks waiting for her Uber when two men pulled up insisting that they were her ride. She told her story as such: “I was waiting for my uber when a large, beige car drove up to me and tried to get me to think they were my uber,” Smith writes. “There were two white men (age 20-30) in the driver (blonde hair) and passenger (brown hair) seat with an uber sign on…
Gremlins was a 1984 dark comedy about a young man who gets a strange creature for a present, which leads him to unwillingly unleash a breed of monsters on his town. It was immensely successful because of its strong characters, beautiful soundtrack, and terrific use of practical effects. And six years later, in 1990, it finally received a sequel – Gremlins 2: The New Batch. Ever since then the series has been quiet, with news and rumors of a third film occasionally popping up. And in a world where reboots are the norm, talk of a new Gremlins movie has…
Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, a 1980 horror film that’s remembered by most for Jack Nicholson’s haunting performance, is easily considered one of the most horrifying and iconic films ever made. But what some people might not know is that Stephen King, who authored the book the film is based on, actually hates what Mr. Kubrick did with his original story. In an old interview from Deadline that was just recently published, Stephen King reveals one of the elements he hates the most about the movie: “The character of Jack Torrance has no arc in that movie. Absolutely no arc at…
Another television series based on a pre-existing horror franchise has had a pilot ordered, and this time it takes The Exorcist to the small screen. It was announced by Deadline that Rupert Wyatt, the director of 2011’s Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, will direct the hour-long pilot which features two men following a family’s case of demonic possession – a modern reinvention inspired by the original book by William Peter Blatty and the film directed by William Friedkin. The Exorcist was a financial and critical success in the 1970’s, and helped spark the possession sub-genre that’s ever popular…
It turns out that while Deadpool is definitely an R-Rated and extreme type of film (especially by something to come out of Marvel), that there were some jokes that were actually deemed too much for the movie. However, T.J. Miller, (who plays Weasel in the film) gave a few examples to IGN with some of the jokes that were too harsh and cut out of the film: “You look like a trucker shit on your shoulders and then shaped ears into it.” “Someone pulled your balls up through your mouth and wrapped them around your head.” These jokes were apparently…
Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been an immense success with both critics and fans, painting the road for new stories to be told while paying tribute to our old favorites, and it turns out we may have almost seen Yoda. Spoilers Ahead: One of the scenes that did just that had Rey (Daisy Ridley) find Luke Skywalker’s first lightsaber, forcing her into a vision which consisted of both images from the past and the future. This included a few nods to some older characters – Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda – through the way of sound recordings taken from Frank Oz,…
