It took years for Amityville: The Awakening to find a release date since filming for the movie took place in 2014. IT director Andy Muschietti has already expressed interest in the past about wanting to direct an adaptation of Stephen King’s Pet Sematary, but it looks like Paramount had a different idea. It’s been reported by Deadline that writer/director duo Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch have been tapped to revive King’s story. The novel was previously adapted in 1989, in which the film later spawned a sequel in 1991 starring Terminator 2’s Edward Furlong.
