Micro-budget filmmaker and lover of all things horror.

Yesterday Cult of Chucky was released on Blu-ray and DVD, as well as streaming service Netflix. This was all after a weeklong leak of the film went viral across the Internet. Unfortunately things seem to be even worse for the film as the Netflix release isn’t even the unrated edition. This means there’s at least a minute of footage missing and the awesome post credits scene was removed. So if you’re a fan of the franchise who’s eager to dig into Chucky’s return, you might be better off doing it with the physical release or some other VOD service that…

One of the most hated horror sequels ever made happened to be 2004’s Seed of Chucky. It took a once serious horror franchise and threw it into a satirical piece about Hollywood culture. Fans were shocked and the negative reception nearly killed the franchise. It wouldn’t be until 2013 that another Chucky film would be produced – and even then, in a step down from its theatrical predecessors, it was released straight-to-video. But did Seed of Chucky really deserve the hate? If you ignore the cheesy digital opening credits, some of the logical inconsistencies, and the budgetary restraints – there’s…

Jason Voorhees is one of the most notorious slashers in horror movie history. And in the late 1980’s, although the quality of his films lowered, his fan reception only grew more and more. And so by the time Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan came about, the masked maniac even got to do his first interview. That’s right, Jason Voorhees got to have a seat on the Arsenio Hall Show in 1989 to promote the New York-set sequel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09yOZsZuxMY Unfortunately it’s also a sign of how much of a parody the series had become, and not even the…

Strangely enough, there’s plenty of children’s films that tend to go a little overboard with their content. These movies have left their marks on all of our childhood memories, but one flick in particular has stood out. The Adventures of Mark Twain is a 1985 stop-motion animated fantasy film inspired by the works of author Mark Twain – and one scene makes it a very disturbing cartoon, especially for children! The plot follows Twain as he attempts to keep his appointment with Halley’s comment. He’s accompanied by his iconic characters Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn, and Becky Thatcher. Eventually the film…

While everyone is going crazy for Stephen King, especially after the massive success of IT, the iconic author has revealed that two of his most popular stories are due for new adaptations; the vampire tale ‘Salem’s Lot and apocalyptic epic The Stand. In a recent interview with Vulture, King said: “There’s talk about doing The Stand as an extended TV series, possibly for Showtime or CBS All Access, and there’s been some interest in developing Salem’s Lot as a feature. Probably because people are saying, ‘Well, we took an old miniseries called It and turned it into a phenomenon, so…

There’s fewer things that clash better together than horror and metal; and the band Slipknot is one that recognizes the potential of said combination. One YouTuber named Adetue also realized the potential of mixing horror with metal, and decidedly performed a cover of Slipknot’s ‘The Devil In I’ while dressed as Pennywise from the latest adaptation of IT. The video also boasts several other nods to IT, such as a baby dressed up as Georgie from the film, yellow raincoat and all. It’s cute but also a little saddening once you remember Georgie’s fate from the film. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikweL-m2CFs&feature=youtu.be It’s definitely…

There seems to be no end in sight for New Line Cinema’s latest adaptation of Stephen King’s IT. Variety reports that the R-rated horror film has officially grossed over $500 million worldwide. This now makes it the highest-grossing horror film of all time, ahead of The Exorcist which was left at $441 million. The Exorcist was also destroyed by IT domestically, with the adaptation taking in $272 million across the US. Sue Kroll, president of worldwide marketing and distribution at Warner Bros., had this to say about IT’s tremendous success: “Crossing $500 million is rarified air for any film, but…

One of the saddest parts of George Romero’s career is hearing what films he was once attached to before the projects fell through. This included movies like Resident Evil, The Mummy, and now apparently even a Marvel Comics film. And for a hero none other than Copperhead! Bloody-Disgusting received the news, which comes from an exclusive clip for the documentary “Untold Horror”. The film is set to reveal a variety of projects that never got made by iconic horror filmmakers, and thus comes the story of Romero’s Copperhead. Romero explained the film was essentially “Transformers meets RoboCop.” Bob Layton, concept…

There’s finally a winner to the bidding war against studios for the rights to David Cronenberg’s Scanners. These people were capable of telekinetic powers and were being hunted down in a futuristic society. It’s just the perfect setup for a TV series in a world where science fiction is endlessly being rebooted and distributed on both television and in theaters. According to Deadline, the film will be…

Bruce Campbell recently did an interview with Aaron Sagers of SYFY Wire regarding his autobiography Hail to the Chin. And he’s given quite a cryptic notion about his iconic character Ash Williams. It all started when Sagers began,“When you hang up that chainsaw for the last time and Ash is gone, you’re moving on…” Campbell soon interrupted him by saying: “Who says I haven’t?” Sagers quickly responded back, “Have you?” and Campbell elaborated a bit more on his cryptic answer. “We finished season three of Ash vs Evil Dead.
