Tales from the Crypt is a franchise that doesn’t just deserve to be revived for the modern age. It’s a legacy that demands to be respected. While some were excited to see M. Night Shyamalan rework Tales from the Crypt into a newer format, others were devastated to hear about changes like the Crypt Keeper being removed or John Kassir not returning to voice him. The show was then plagued by rights issues, presumably from attempts to make it closer to the iconic HBO series, and now Shyamalan’s attempt seems to be totally dead. Here’s how he summed it up:…

Screen Media’s latest horror genre film has been released today on Demand and Digital HD. The slasher satire/spoof titled You Might Be the Killer, written by Brett Simmons, (Husk, Animal, The Monkey’s Paw) has been considered something of a cross between Friday the 13th and Scream. According to Bloody-Disgusting, the film’s plot is as follows: You Might Be the Killer sees camp counselor Sam (Fran Kranz, The Cabin in the Woods) on the run from a masked killer at the camp he is employed at. Rather than call the police, he calls his friend Chuck (Alyson Hannigan, Buffy the Vampire…
The Leprechaun franchise is one I have vivid memories of growing up with as a kid. Warwick Davis’ charisma, humor, and one-liners were permanently etched into my brain and I realized the power a horror comedy could have. While others might not recognize the Leprechaun franchise for anything more than a cheesy way to spend their rainy afternoons, we can all agree on one thing. It would be great to see Warwick Davis back in the makeup again. After years of hearing Davis talk about how badly he’d want to do another Leprechaun, I was beyond excited to see Leprechaun…
Although horror fans were skeptical at first when David Gordon Green was first announced as the director for 2018’s Halloween, he clearly proved himself worthy with the successful sequel. Now fans are eager to see what other genre projects Green could take on, which could include the Critters and Ghoulies franchises. In a recent Q&A, David Gordon Green and his Halloween collaborator Danny McBride were asked which potential franchises they’d like to revive next. Green quickly answered: “I’d like to make a little Critters/Ghoulies movie.” While he didn’t elaborate much past that, McBride did offer a childhood story regarding Ghoulies.…
Godzilla: King of the Monsters has to be one of the most anticipated Kaiju films in years. While the full trailer for the film is supposed to hit Monday, a new teaser has leaked from Tokyo Comic-Con. It doesn’t offer a whole lot we haven’t seen, but there is some new dialogue and a few clips that raise expectations for the full trailer. One of the best moments has to be some aerial footage taken from inside a fighter jet. It really gets you pumped for whatever madness these monsters are preparing to unleash on us humans. Thank you, #WonderGal…
In his short story collection Books of Blood, Hellraiser creator Clive Barker published The Forbidden; a story that would later be adapted as Candyman in 1992. The iconic horror film spawned several sequels and tie-in merchandise, making the name Candyman almost as recognizable as urban legend Bloody Mary. Now a new generation of moviegoers will have the chance to be terrified as Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions will be teaming up with MGM to produce a new Candyman film. Jonathan Glickman, MGM’s President, made the announcement today and stated the film will have a 2020 release date. According to him, filmmaker…
The Ghostbusters franchise has been erratic over the last couple of decades. After the success of the original film, an animated series titled The Real Ghostbusters quickly went into production. The show focused on developing the characters and elaborating on the universe’s lore. Many kids of the 1980’s grew up with it, and so by the time a proper film sequel titled Ghostbusters II was released in 1989, everyone was a little underwhelmed. That hasn’t stopped people from talking about Ghostbusters 3, however. As a result, the franchise has never truly recovered, with its creators constantly talking about doing a…
The slasher subgenre is at the brim of a renaissance with Halloween coming to theaters this October. While it’ll be a sweet surprise for many horror fans to see Michael Myers back for another round of carnage, most can’t help but wonder when we’ll see the likes of icon Jason Voorhees from the Friday the 13th franchise making a return as well. Unfortunately the Friday the 13th franchise hasn’t had much luck in recent years. Paramount secured the rights to do another reboot but ultimately passed the project up due to rights issues. Friday the 13th: The Game was next…
The Nightmare on Elm Street fanbase has had something of a gift today. Most fans assumed Robert Englund was totally done with his role as Freddy Krueger, a character we haven’t seen since 2010 in a half-hearted remake featuring a new Freddy played by Jackie Earle Haley. The original Freddy was last seen even before that, with 2003’s Freddy vs. Jason. But now Robert Englund is donning the makeup once again for a special guest appearance in The Goldbergs. That’s right, Englund is finally returning as his iconic 1980’s slasher villain for the 80’s-set sitcom. His character will be in…
One of the horror genre’s most anticipated sequels of all time comes out this year – David Gordon Green’s Halloween movie. As we all know, it’s a followup to the 1978 film of the same name. It’s also been no surprise that John Carpenter has been deeply involved with the sequel’s production – his first role in the series since working on Halloween III: Season of the Witch. As such, it’s meant a lot to fans that he finally decided to ensure that the integrity of the original film stays intact for this new sequel. But just how far has…
