On St. Patrick’s Day we learned that Syfy was developing a new sequel to the original Leprechaun film from 1993. It will ignore all other entries in the franchise, showing the first Leprechaun being revived 25 years later – and interestingly enough no longer played by Warwick Davis. Instead this incarnation of the Leprechaun will be played by Linden Porco. We already saw Porco in his Leprechaun makeup and attire with Syfy’s teaser video, but this actually isn’t Porco’s first venture into acting or the horror genre. The actor got his start because of his “cartilage-hair hypoplasia, a form of dwarfism that stunts…

While it’s still unknown what the future of Evil Dead is going to be once Season Three of Ash vs. Evil Dead ends, we did have Bruce Campbell say there could always be another movie. “We won’t know [if we’ve been renewed] till the middle of March. We’re in the horrible television limbo right now,” Campbell told EW last month. “If they take us off the air, we can think about another movie. And if they don’t, we can just keep plugging away.” But now he’s changing his statement, suggesting that this third season could very much be the final end…

We live in a time where studios want to pump out remakes in an attempt to receive brand recognition and thus more profit. It seems especially popular to do this with horror titles, as horror fans after all tend to be very supportive for their beloved franchises. A few cult classics have evaded this treatment, but now it seems like 1980’s fan-favorite Chopping Mall might be the next film to get remade. Sort of. According to Robert Green Hall, who is set to write and direct the remake, the movie will not even bear a passing resemblance to the original.…

The slasher genre has recently been sneaking back into theaters, one of the most recent attempts being a Groundhog Day-inspired film called Happy Death Day. It was excitingly a financial success, earning over $100 million on a less than $5 million budget. In an economic formula like that, Happy Death Day 2 would no doubt be put into production – as was the purpose of these types of films in the 80’s. The film’s star Jessica Rothe even explained last year how a sequel could begin as she was told by her director. “The sequel, the way he described it…

It’s a good time to be a Halloween movie fan, or more specifically, a fan of the original Halloween. As we all know, Danny McBride and David Gordon Green’s attempt to continue the original film’s story will retcon all other sequels and entries in the series. But interestingly enough, and not unlike Disney with Star Wars, it seems they’ll be pulling elements from all Halloween movies. As Danny McBride explained in an all-new interview with Flickering Myth, “This picks up after the first one. The Halloween franchise has kind of become a little bit of like choose your own adventure,…

The news started in October that director Rob Zombie would be returning to his most famous characters from The Devil’s Rejects and House of 1000 Corpses. It was later revealed that Zombie was aiming for a March 2018 shooting date, with plans for the film to be tentatively titled Devil’s Rejects 2: 3 From Hell. Rob Zombie has now made the news official with his Instagram account, announcing that the title will simply be called 3 From Hell, appropriate enough considering it’s both his third film in the franchise and follows his three most popular characters. It’s all true! Day…

It looks like Starz is having a hard time with Ash vs. Evil Dead. While dealing with the onslaught of pirating and torrenting issues taking away revenue from Starz, their ratings have been hit pretty hard as of late. The third season was postponed from the show’s usual October release date until February, mostly to avoid competition with the season premiere of The Walking Dead. And yet ironically enough, The Walking Dead ended up returning the same day as Ash vs Evil Dead’s premiere anyway. Then the second episode went against the Oscars ceremony – so luck just hasn’t been…

One of Eli Roth’s more recent ventures, aside from the Death Wish remake and The Green Inferno, was a Chilean film he co-wrote, presented, and played in titled Aftershock. The film is an interesting blend of genres – while part of it is a natural disaster film, focusing on an earthquake and its effects on Chile, there is a very human element thrown into the horror. That is, a prison is destroyed, unleashing a legion of criminals that take advantage of the city’s post-earthquake status to rape and pillage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VoyGUt5PIQ8&feature=youtu.be Now Aftershock is available on Netflix, giving you a chance…
