Are your Tromatons tingling? They should be, because it’s just been announced that Legendary Pictures has acquired the rights to remake The Toxic Avenger. While original Toxic Avenger director Lloyd Kaufman was supposedly working on another sequel, it seems the plans have once again turned to remake the iconic 80’s character. While there aren’t any details on the movie, it’ll be interesting to see how they approach it – especially considering Troma who created the character are best known for being trashy and, frankly, the complete opposite of mainstream cinema. So it will definitely be different seeing the franchise get…

The world may have finally lost its mind. Streaming is usually praised as a convenient alternative to buying or renting physical movies. But now there’s one film available for rent in HD on Amazon that’s a shocking $1,000,000.99! Or, you could save yourself some cash and rent it in standard definition quality for the incredibly lower price of $999,999.99. It’s obviously just the result of some bizarre viral marketing stunt, but clearly it’s worked otherwise it wouldn’t be going viral. James Gunn might be out of Guardians of the Galaxy, but that hasn’t stopped the iconic director from pursuing the superhero genre further. His latest project BrightBurn is something of a superhero-turned-horror film, introducing an origin story not unlike a very well-known DC hero. However, this film takes a very sharp turn from anything you could expect from a Superman story… The film is directed by David Yarovesky, with a screenplay from Mark Gunn and Brian Gunn. It’s definitely eerie seeing such familiar superhero iconography become twisted enough to sport a sinister horror villain. It’s definitely a unique concept so…

Child’s Play is one of the few horror franchises notorious for not being remade or recasting its lead villain. As such, fans were rightfully shocked when MGM announced plans to remake the 1988 original film. While Universal owns and controls the sequels, MGM possesses the first movie and apparently has the right to remake it as well. The original film’s co-writer, Don Mancini, who has remained part of the franchise ever since – understandably wasn’t too happy about the remake. In fact, he had this to say while appearing on the Post Mortem podcast: “MGM retained the rights to the…

Tales from the Crypt is a franchise that doesn’t just deserve to be revived for the modern age. It’s a legacy that demands to be respected. While some were excited to see M. Night Shyamalan rework Tales from the Crypt into a newer format, others were devastated to hear about changes like the Crypt Keeper being removed or John Kassir not returning to voice him. The show was then plagued by rights issues, presumably from attempts to make it closer to the iconic HBO series, and now Shyamalan’s attempt seems to be totally dead. Here’s how he summed it up:…

Rather than call the police, he calls his friend Chuck (Alyson Hannigan, Buffy the Vampire…

The Leprechaun franchise is one I have vivid memories of growing up with as a kid. Warwick Davis’ charisma, humor, and one-liners were permanently etched into my brain and I realized the power a horror comedy could have. While others might not recognize the Leprechaun franchise for anything more than a cheesy way to spend their rainy afternoons, we can all agree on one thing. It would be great to see Warwick Davis back in the makeup again. After years of hearing Davis talk about how badly he’d want to do another Leprechaun, I was beyond excited to see Leprechaun…
