A new live-action adaptation of the iconic He-Man and the Masters of the Universe franchise has gone off and on ever since the first adaptation was produced by Cannon Films in 1987. While the new movie will serve no connection to the initial adaptation, and instead focus on an entirely new continuity inspired by the toy lines and animated series, it looks like the film won’t be making its original 2019 release date. The new He-Man movie was first announced for a December 2019 release, and obviously since filming hasn’t even begun, Sony Pictures has moved the release window all…

The Child’s Play franchise has stayed relevant in pop culture ever since the original film premiered at the tail end of the 1980’s. And while most other horror franchises or slasher villains have already been remade or recast in some form since that marvelous decade, Child’s Play remained untouched. Until now. Orion has taken it upon themselves to update the Child’s Play franchise for modern audiences – and in doing so wiped away the voodoo subplots and character of Charles Lee Ray that made Chucky into an iconic slasher villain. Now the new movie has made Chucky into an animatronic…

It seems like there’s always some kind of Halo adaptation in the works, whether it’s live-action or some kind of animated project. The latest incarnation to adapt the world of Halo will be a live-action series for Showtime. Many horror and superhero fans have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Swamp Thing, a new television series from DC and Warner Bros. The series will see Derek Mears put on the monster suit (yes, actual practical effects!) and portray the iconic character in live-action for the first time since 1990 when the USA Network developed a Swamp Thing TV series based on Wes Craven’s 1982 film adaptation. Unfortunately, there was some upsetting news that the series’ initial 13 episode season was cut down to a shorter 10 episodes. The reason was not given other than “creative differences”, and it…

While the horror genre has always been a major and impactful part of cinematic history, the genre has also been subtly pushed away by mainstream Hollywood. Here’s their very…

While the horror genre is full of vast and endless potential, there are always certain tropes that remain effective on even the most primal levels. This includes anything having to do with spiders, which most people just can’t seem to handle.
