Two years ago, a GoFundMe campaign raised nearly $20,000 to create The People’s Joker – a coming-of-age fan film about a trans woman working in comedy. The film exists as a parody of the 2019 film Joker with references to various other incarnations of the iconic villain and the Batman franchise.
