Growing up a film and television fan in the wonderful state of Massachusetts, he grew a strong attachment to personal dramas. Teaming up his fandom for the world of entertainment along with his love of writing was just an all too natural fit for Matt. He can be often found at the local cineplex, eating at the local restaurants or playing basketball at any basketball court across Mass.

Pairing together the directorial talents of Sin City’s Robert Rodriguez with the vision of Avatar’s James Cameron as a producer, Alita: Battle Angel certainly possesses a lot of promise on paper. While the film is admirable in its ideas and filmmaking prowess, the execution makes for one big dissatisfying mess of a film. Based on the Magna series Battle Angel Alita, the film is set in a post-apocalyptic dystopia, where much of the population is stuck on the junkyard surface of Earth. In the junkyard though, a well-meaning robotics doctor discovers Alita, who possess the technology and abilities of a rare breed of robot. She goes on a…

The success of Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions has led to the advent of many different new horror series. With the release of Happy Death Day 2U this weekend, the horror-comedy based original film is making its attempt at becoming a franchise. While reviews for the original were solid enough, I personally detested the film for its lazy writing and execution. While its sequel has yet to open, writer and director Christopher Landon has opened up with Entertainment Weekly to discuss a possible tease for a third film that can be seen after the credits of 2U this weekend: “Oh god. Well, I mean, there’s…

While Warner Brothers was hopeful for its success, no one could have predicted just how much of a hit Aquaman would be. The film has gone on to be the highest grossing DC Extended Universe film, grossing over a billion dollars worldwide while scoring solid reviews. Considering DC’s wildly inconsistent track record, a hit this sizable has been something to truly celebrate. DC has already continued to expand the Aquaman universe with the announcement of The Trench, but it looks they will continue to do so with a sequel to everyone’s favorite Atlantic hero. According to Deadline, Aquaman 2 is currently being written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick,…

Tommy Wiseau is a true original, with his infamous “so bad its good” film The Room recently getting the cinematic treatment with James Franco’s The Disaster Artist. Wiseau continues to stay busy, releasing B(e)st Friends Volume 1 and Volume 2 last year, and appears to be continuing to do the same this year with his latest Big Shark.  Starring alongside The Room co-star Greg Sestero, Big Shark has yet to finish production. That hasn’t  stopped Wiseau from giving fans a tease for the film, as he released a teaser trailer for the film along side the official poster: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeuSLaKHZSo A new poster: BIG SHARK – COMING SOON – Official Trailer https://t.co/7RNabeGWyp…

The revival of Orion Pictures has been an under the radar story behind the scenes. The once iconic distribution company had produced iconic films like Terminator and The Silence of Lambs, but since went bankrupt before being revived by MGM in 2013. While they haven’t made a noticeable impact yet, the studio is digging their toes back into the horror genre with The Prodigy, a familiar, yet solidly executed play on the demented child subgenera. The Prodigy follows Sarah (Taylor Schiling) and John (Peter Mooney), parents who are raising a child with possible genius tendencies. As he ages though, they begin to worry that Miles (Jackson…

Arnold Schwarzenegger has made his name with numerous action brands, but none quite capture his persona like Conan the Barbarian. While certainly campy for today’s standards, the film is still quite entertaining, with Schwarzenegger making a sizable impact with his personality making up for many of the film’s weaknesses. The Conan brand though is one that has largely been dormant in the film landscape, aside from a poorly received reboot that starred Aquaman’s Jason Momoa. Despite the franchise’s lack of activity, Schwarzenegger still wants to get another playing Conan. With a new comic series debuting for the character, Schwarzenegger took to Twitter to promote it, along…

James Cameron has been a very busy man of late. Serving as a producer for Alita: Battle Angle, director for several Avatar sequels, and an undefined role in shaping the future of Alien, there is certainly a lot on his plate to manage. Along side all of that, Cameron is also producing the latest Terminator reboot. This will mark the sixth film in the franchise, but it will ostensibly be another way to reboot the series back to the original roots. While we still have not seen any footage from the new Terminator, Cameron has announced via an interview with Yahoo what the new title of the film…

A title like The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then The Bigfoot leaves a strong impression. While most audiences would expect the end result to be a total camp fest, the actual film captures its bizarre premise with the upmost sincerity. The end results, while imperfect, create a solidly entertaining genre-inspired film, bolstered by another strong turn from fan favorite Sam Elliot. The film follows Calvin Barr (Elliot and Aidan Turner in flashbacks), a war veteran who tries to enjoy his retirement despite his past heroics weighing heavily on him. Calvin is suddenly thrusted back into his old work when the FBI…

James Cameron is the Daniel Day Lewis of directors in a sense. While he doesn’t make a film very often, when he does ,its often a sizable event. Both Titanic and Avatar ended their box office runs being the highest grossing film of all time, with Avatar still holding that honor worldwide. Pair that along side iconic entries in the science fiction franchises Terminator and Alien, Cameron’s sizable mark on the industry is noteworthy to say the least. Along with juggling the several Avatar sequels he has in the pipeline, it appears that Cameron may be getting his creative hands back into the Aliens franchise. In an interview with IGN promoting Alita: Battle Angle (which…

3 From Hell, Rob Zombie’s long-awaited sequel to The Devils Rejects, has been in the pipework for quite some time now. After directing Halloween and Halloween 2, Zombie has went back to his roots of being an independent horror director, which has led to some adjustments for the acclaimed musician turned director. While he operates in a creative area without much in terms of studio interference, he does have to make compromises as far as budget and timetable. With that being said, it appears that 3 From Hell could be seeing the light of day relatively soon. Zombie went to Instagram to post an update on the film,…
