Growing up a film and television fan in the wonderful state of Massachusetts, he grew a strong attachment to personal dramas. Teaming up his fandom for the world of entertainment along with his love of writing was just an all too natural fit for Matt. He can be often found at the local cineplex, eating at the local restaurants or playing basketball at any basketball court across Mass.

DC has had a few blunders over the past few years, but none are more obvious than 2016’s Suicide Squad. Borderline incoherent due to it’s flashy, yet choppy editing style, the film proved to be a major waste of the potential and talent on board. Thankfully with Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn on board and new additions like Idris Elba and Michael Rooker, The Suicide Squad boasts a considerable amount of potential. While we still have to wait till 2021 to see Gunn’s final product, its clear that Warner Brothers will be allowing the director to put his staple on the brand.…

Tolkien is credited for creating some of the most innovative and beloved lore in the fantasy genre. Nintendo has had several flagship properties, but few have had the wide-reach appeal of the Pokemon brand. Whether it’s handheld video games, animated content or the series’ undoubtedly catchy theme song, the series offered a distinct and light-hearted approach that has connected with audiences. The Pokemon brand is finally making its big leap to live-action film with Pokemon Detective Pikachu, a serviceable family film that sadly left me wanting more. Adapting the concept of the 2016 video game, Detective Pikachu is set in a world where pokemon and humans live homogenously together. The film follows Tim (Justice Smith), whose dad goes missing…

Few directors have enjoyed the success and creative freedom of James Cameron. With Titanic and Avatar being two of the most successful films of all time, Cameron has seemingly earned himself carte blanche to do and say whatever he wants. For now, he’s been relatively quiet outside of producing Alita: Battle Angel and directing several upcoming Avatar sequels. It looks like James Cameron is back in the spotlight, this time for challenging the massively successful Marvel Cinematic Universe. In an interview with Indiewire that resurfaced this week, Cameron took the series to task, criticizing it for its repetition and simplicity: “I’m hoping we’ll start getting Avenger fatigue here pretty soon.…

With the current trend of supernatural horror movies dominating the marketplace, the thriller genre has taken a back seat by comparison. Shaking up the trend is The Intruder, a film that attempts to blend humor and horror into one entertaining experience. The Intruder follows a happy and well-off couple Scott (Michael Ealy) and Annie (Meagan Good), who move out of their busy life to settle down in the countryside. They’re in for a rude awakening when Charlie (Denis Quaid), a seemingly friendly man the couple buys the…

Zac Efron has reached the heights of fame and success in Hollywood, but as a fan of his, the actor has always seemed to have some untapped potential. Efron has only flexed his dramatic chops minimally, standing out in the underrated Me and Orson Welles, but now the former teen heartbeat is getting his chance with Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. While the actor shines as infamous serial killer Ted Bundy, the film sadly never reaches the heights of Efron’s performance. Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile follows Bundy’s relationship with Elizabeth Kloepfer (Lilly Collins), who grows a bond with him before he is…
