Growing up a film and television fan in the wonderful state of Massachusetts, he grew a strong attachment to personal dramas. Teaming up his fandom for the world of entertainment along with his love of writing was just an all too natural fit for Matt. He can be often found at the local cineplex, eating at the local restaurants or playing basketball at any basketball court across Mass.

Disney+ has an exciting opportunity in their hands with a new line of Marvel television programs that will be released starting this year. Perhaps the most intriguing of the bunch is WandaVision, with both characters serving as dedicated lovers in their supporting roles in the MCU. While Paul Bettany’s Vision and Elizabeth Olsen’s version of Scarlett Witch were well performed, neither character ever had a chance to be in the spotlight during their run on the big screen. With WandaVision, the potential is there to further explore their romantic dynamic and delve into some creative new directions for Marvel. After being teased in…

The ramifications of Disney’s purchase of Fox are still being felt over a year after its completion. Disney has already changed Fox studios significantly during their short time in command, focusing less on smaller films like The Hate U Give and Stuber and more on projects with box office appeal. That looks to be the case with The Call of the Wild, which is set to be the first production under the newly named 20th Century Studios brand. In a new TV spot for the Harrison Ford venture, a new logo was revealed for the upcoming dog adventure film. Check out the TV spot and the…

Several studios have tried to reinvent fairy tales into contemporary cinema with mostly lackluster results. Projects like Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunter and Snow White and the Huntsman showed promise with their creative deviations from their source material, but these endeavors lacked the followthrough to execute their inventive ideas. With the horror genre soaring to new heights of popularity, we now have Gretel And Hansel, a decidedly macabre look at the Brothers Grimm fairy tale. Thanks to superb craftsmanship and genuinely intelligent reimaging of the source material, this effort soars past its January contemporaries. Gretel (IT star Sophia Lillis) and Hansel (Sam Leakey) follows two…

While there have been several noteworthy horror hits over the past decade, few have inspired other projects as much as A Quiet Place. Along with garnering significant critical and financial success (eared nearly 350 million worldwide), silent-themed horror projects have turned into a subgenre with The Silence and Netflix phenom Bird Box following in A Quiet Place’s footsteps. With all of that success, it’s no surprise that A Quiet Place 2 is on its way. Building off of a tense teaser trailer that showed our lead characters in a new situation, Paramount has released a new Super Bowl spot ahead of the big game that shows a…

With Disney’s unprecedented success with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the concept of creating a cinematic universe has been coveted by many different studios. The early returns on copycats like the Dark Universe and DC Extended Universe have been less than tantalizing, with DC already abandoning plans to continue on with that idea. While the concept of a cinematic universe has mainly been considered with tentpole projects, it looks like Gretel and Hansel could change that. Sitting down with The Bloody Disgusting’s The Boo Crew podcast, Gretel and Hansel director Osgood Perkins revealed his intentions to creating his own dark fairytale universe. Check out his comments:…

It’s crazy to say this, but it’s been nearly eight years since Batman has shined on the big screen in his own solo venture (Ben Affleck’s Batman never got the solo feature that was planned for him). This is particularly surprising since Batman has consistently been DC’s biggest draw on the big screen, with both Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan’s iterations of the franchise producing critically and financially prosperous entries. DC is hoping the same will be the case with Matt Reeves’ The Batman, which will feature The Lighthouse star Robert Pattinson as The Caped Crusader. With production just getting underway for…

In today’s cinematic landscape, reboots have become a dime a dozen, with studios often using old school brands to sell their latest venture. With their prevalence, the announcement of a Lethal Weapon 5 is particularly surprising, especially considering the original cast and director are set to return for the project after 20+ years since Lethal Weapon 4. In a sitdown discussion with The Hollywood Reporter featuring notable producers, Dan Lin revealed the plan to make Lethal Weapon 5 with the core team returning in their respective roles, including stars Mel Gibson and Danny Glover. Here are his comments: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ALe_MuIKv0&feature=emb_title “We’re trying to make…

With the success of Aquaman and Shazam, DC Comics has been on a great streak on the big screen of late, recovering from years of mixed results to finally find consistent success. Perhaps their most noticeable misfire of late was Suicide Squad, which featured an all-star cast and several of DC’s most notable villains. Despite being a financial success for all involved (grossed around 750 million worldwide), both critics and audiences despised the film, putting director David Ayer in a precarious position after infamously touting “F*ck Marvel” during the film’s premiere. Well after years of reflection, it seems Ayers has apologized for his comments.…

DC has entered a new era of comic book films, with a greater focus on telling unique comic book stories on a smaller scale. Last year alone brought us Shazam, a comic book film that harkened to 80s family films with its comedic/action balance, and Joker, a dark rumination on society that would go on to garner significant awards attention. The comic book brand is looking to have the same success this year with Birds of Prey, the first superhero venture to feature Joker’s longtime lover Harley Quinn as the lead. Many were surprised to see that Joker was to be completely absent from Birds of Prey because…

Ghostbusters has endured the test of time due to its wonderfully unique blend of hard-nosed science fiction and sarcastic comedy, with Sony trying to recapture the magic ever since. Ghostbusters 2 was a serviceable, yet unimaginative sequel that failed to build on its predecessor, while Ghostbusters (2016) largely failed to connect with audiences due to its broad comedic streak (it’s better than internet trolls give it credit for though). Sony is back at it again with Ghostbusters: Afterlife, a reboot set in the world of the original film. While the initial trailer may have surprised some with its new approach to the property, fans will be…
