Just someone with a love for all things media, having grown up with classic British TV and bonkers American film. Currently studying English and Creative Writing at university, with a need to articulate exactly what I think about everything. I ramble at a much more concise level on Twitter.

Fans excited for Ben Affleck’s standalone ‘The Batman’ film may have to wait a while as an unofficial rumor claims that production on the film has hit a snag, and has subsequently been delayed for a couple of months. This doesn’t initially seem to be a problem, as this Batman film is one of the few planned releases on DC’s slate not to have been given a fixed release date, so there is no real pressure to get it done in a rush. However there does seem to be some worry with what the source also added, with the delay…

The Power Rangers movie heads ever closer to its release in March, and despite that we really haven’t seen much of the film at all. The marketing so far has done a good job of keeping it shrouded in mystery, with the designs of the Rangers and Rita Repulsa only properly seen through promotional images, and only a brief glimpse in the trailer. Other characters as well have barely been seen, such as Bill Hader’s Alpha 5, only shown in a single promo image. But most curiously the character we haven’t seen at all till now is Bryan Cranston’s Zordon.…

I am holding out all my hope for Wonder Woman, not only is it, for me at least, the last chance for the DCEU to truly prove itself. It is important as a landmark in cinema, the first big-budget superhero blockbuster with a female lead and female director, it’s sad that it’s taken the industry this long to get to this place, but it’s here now at the very least. And come June, all eyes will be on Wonder Woman. I really do hope this film does succeed on every level, and while we won’t be able to judge the…

It’s funny how the reasons for lead actors to leave a big franchise can range from ridiculously complicated, to astonishingly simple. Case in point when Michael Keaton explained his reasons for leaving the Batman franchise and not signing on for ‘Batman Forever’ in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter. It seems that Keaton has nothing praise for the way that Tim Burton brought Batman to the big screen, and clearly enjoyed his time in the role. The actor said: “Yeah, I was glad. Are you kidding? I mean, who gets to play Batman? It was awesome! It goes down…

Ridley Scott is one of those director who has done nearly every type of film imaginable, in nearly every genre possible. Except in the superhero genre, and that doesn’t look like it’s going to change anytime soon with what he said in a recent interview with Digital Spy. “I can’t believe in the thin, gossamer tightrope of the non-reality of the situation of the superhero.” He critique of the genre goes further, with comparisons being made to his own ‘Blade Runner’. “Blade Runner really is a comic strip when you think about it, it’s a dark story told in an…

There are many ways in which director can provide an Easter egg in their films, and one of the ways they choose to do so is by having a cameo in their own production. However – one of the strangest cameos in recent memory is one Zack Snyder made in DC’s Batman v Superman. In a close up of Bruce Wayne’s (Ben Affleck) hand picking up a phone, according to Larry Fong, the film’s cinematographer, that’s not actually Ben Affleck’s hand, but instead Zack Snyder’s. https://twitter.com/larryfong/status/815696728837918720?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw Fong also pointed this out: “1) often actors don’t want to do little tiny…

If there’s one thing to look forward to in any Marvel movie, it’s the obligatory Stan Lee cameo. And seeing as it was his birthday yesterday, there’s no better time than now to have a day late look-back at all of his cameo appearances in most Marvel movies thus far. But what’s that? I hear this imaginary interactive audience cry? It’s too much to go back and watch all the Marvel movies just for the Stan Lee cameos appearances! Well, I agree, convenient imaginary voice, and so it’s lucky that someone has very kindly put together all of his cameos…

Well this is just going to be a thing that happens, isn’t it? Indeed, when it comes to taking not-so-subtle pot-shots at DC, Marvel seems to frequently employ Deadpool as a means to do so, and indeed the character’s fourth wall breaking nature and self-referencial brand of humour just makes it easier for the writers to do so. But what is arguably most curious, is that their most recent jab at Zack Snyder, (in Spider-Man/Deadpool #12), is not only done by Spider-Man as opposed to the merc with a mouth, but also appears to take an aim at Zack Snyder’s…

She was a brilliant actress, an advocate for mental health awareness, and an all-around wonderful person. She was gone too soon, and there is no easy way to deal with this loss. But there is a beauty in the way many fans have given tribute to the late Carrie Fisher. One in particular that has stuck out is in relation to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Carrie Fisher never had an official star on it, so a few fans took it upon themselves to make one for her, in her memory. It’s difficult to read on the image, but the…

There’s been a recent surge of interest for the production of Netflix’s ‘The Defenders’, understandable as filming for the show is currently in full swing. But curious, as this level of interest had never been present for the previous Netflix Marvel shows. In any case the news this time around is that Daredevil’s Charlie Cox and Jessica Jones’ Krysten Ritter have been spotted on set together for the first time! While initially appearing to state the obvious, (of course the two are going to appear together in the big crossover series). I think what’s interesting is what it suggests for…
