Movie buff, animal lover, and avid reader. :D

Every year, a slew of great movies make the rounds of the awards circuit. Inevitably, there are some worthy films that get left out of the fray. There’s simply more quality cinema than there are nominations to go around. In the end, though, regardless of the number of nominees, there can be only one winner in each category. At last night’s Golden Globes, the evening’s most coveted prize, Best Picture (Drama), went to Bohemian Rhapsody. While I’m not surprised in the slightest (it was my pick for the best film of the year in our movies of 2018 breakdown), some…

The upcoming X-Men: Dark Phoenix is likely to be the final film in the Fox-produced series. Not only because the character rights are being transferred to Marvel Studios, but also because it’s apparently really, really bad. Awful. Terrible. Fantastic Four terrible. You read that right. According to DisInsider’s Skyler Shuler, this movie is scraping up the toxic sludge that the 2015 mega-flop left at the bottom of the barrel. As he said on Twitter: “Based on what I have heard, this movie cold be Fant4stic level BAD.” Based on what i have heard, this movie cold be Fant4stic level BAD. https://t.co/L9P4u2Hasg…

Over the course of more than 10 years and 20 movies, many people have been instrumental in bringing the MCU to life. Countless actors, writers, directors, costumers, and effects experts have contributed their talents to the giant puzzle that is Marvel. But perhaps no single person (short of the late Stan Lee himself) has been as integral as Kevin Feige. After getting his start as a producer on Fox’s X-Men films, Feige was appointed President of Marvel Studios. He then proceeded to weave together the threads of the largest, most expansive shared universe in film history. Without his leadership and…

One of the most recognizable voices in the history of sports entertainment has gone silent. Legendary interviewer and ringside announcer Mean Gene Okerlund has passed away at the age of 76. Since 1970, Okerlund has conducted thousands of backstage interviews with hundreds of different wrestlers. Among the most memorable are the ones with Hulk Hogan, which always started with the iconic line, “Well, you know something, Mean Gene?” These early interviews were instrumental in Hogan’s popularity at the time. Despite his nickname, Okerlund was known as a very kind and classy person. He was beloved by wrestlers, backstage personnel, and…

The much-maligned Fox X-Men films look to say goodbye when X-Men: Dark Phoenix premieres next summer. (The acquisition of Fox’s Marvel properties by Disney’s Marvel Studios makes it very likely that all your favorite mutants will be recast, reimagined, re-whatever. And that’s probably a good thing.) The universe has seen its ups and downs, helping usher in the current success of comic book films. Entries like X2: X-Men United and Days of Future Past were high-quality, fairly faithful adaptations of their source material. However, it has also offered up several supbar flicks, including The Last Stand and Apocalypse. Which category Dark…

In the wake of the new Halloween’s solid success, many horror fans are wondering if other franchises might be next up for a sequel revisiting the heroine of their original film. A Nightmare on Elm Street is one currently being talked about. One such heroine who would be 100% on board is Heather Langenkamp. She portrayed Freddy Krueger’s nemesis, Nancy Thompson, who defeated the long-dead serial killer in the series’ first and third installments. Nancy was a bona fide badass: vengeful, resourceful, and smart, with the courage to face her worst fears time and time again. In fact, she was…

Tony Stark has a plan, and it looks like he’s got a lot more than 12% figured out. We’ve suspected for a while that Avengers 4 would be a time-travel film, as it’s the only logical way to defeat Thanos, and save the lives taken by his universe-altering snap. Set photos seem to confirm this theory, as we see several familiar figures. These include Stark in the Black Sabbath shirt he wore in the first Avengers, as well as Thor with his hair long, and both he and brother Loki in the same Asgardian armor they wore in the 2012…

We at ScreenGeek are sad to report the passing of Scott Wilson. He died Saturday, October 6th, at the age of 76. He passed at his home, after a brave battle with leukemia. Wilson is best known to younger audiences for his portrayal of one of The Walking Dead’s most beloved characters, Hershel Greene. As the father of Maggie and Beth, Hershel also became a surrogate father/grandfather to the rest of the group as well. He saved their lives when he allowed them to stay at his isolated farm early in the outbreak. Over time, Hershel became the show’s moral center,…

If you’ve been following ScreenGeek for a while, you’ve surely heard that everyone’s favorite smartass archer, Clint Barton, is in for some major life changes.  Just in case this is news to you, here’s a brief rundown. Actor Jeremy Renner has been spotted on the Avengers 4 set in a very different costume from the one we’re used to seeing on Hawkeye. This is significant because his new look strongly resembles the comics’ depiction of Ronin. Much like the events in Captain America’s life spurred his evolution into Nomad, so did happenings in Barton’s life cause him to undergo serious…

One of the few flaws in the MCU so far is the fact that villains (not named Loki or Thanos) tend to be one-offs who are fairly easily defeated. No matter how good the character is, they’re thwarted and dispatched in 120 minutes or less. Fortunately, it looks like Marvel is starting to learn their lesson. One of the MCU’s best villains, Ronan the Accuser, is coming back for another round. How, you ask? After all, he was disintegrated by the incredible might of the Power Stone. There was literally nothing left of him. Luckily, there’s an easy way around…
