All of the actors who brought the core characters of the MCU to life are now eternally and indelibly linked to their iconic roles. Chris Evans so perfectly embodied Captain America that it’s almost hard to see him in another part. And that couldn’t have been easy – Steve Rogers is almost too good, too kind, and too honest to be relatable. He could have easily come off as a tedious goody two shoes, always reminding others that he’s better than them. Instead, Rogers was the group’s stoic moral compass, while remaining thoroughly human and fallible. He wasn’t perfect at…

James Bond is a character who exists in the rarefied air of an icon among icons. His films are a brilliant mixture of action, mystery, thriller, and romance. Women want him, and men want to be him. For 57 years, he’s been the epitome of the sleek, debonair gentleman (who could also kill you with a toothpick). Since 1962’s Dr. No, Agent 007 has been portrayed by no less than seven actors. They’ve all had their own unique ways of bringing him to life, but the seven do have one thing in common – they’ve all been white men. That…

In the nearly two decades since most of the world discovered Karl Urban in The Lord of the Rings films, the Kiwi actor has built the career of a genre legend. The vast majority of his body of work consists of sci-fi (Star Trek, Almost Human, Doom), fantasy (LOTR, The Price of Milk), action (Dredd, The Chronicles of Riddick), CBMs (Red, Priest, Dredd, Thor: Ragnarok), and horror (Ghost Ship, The Truth About Demons). He’s now adding to that impressive resumé with the new Amazon Prime series, The Boys. Based on the comic book series of the same name, it takes…

The last few years, Star Wars fans have been treated to a ton of content. Episodes VII and VIII, Rogue One, and Solo have hit theaters (to varying degrees of critical and commercial success). There’s also the Clone Wars TV series, and (although they aren’t canon) a plethora of novels based in the galaxy far, far away. While some have reveled in this wealth of media, others feel that it’s too much of a good thing. Star Wars fatigue has set in for a sizable chunk of the target audience, and new additions to the lore are no longer the rare…

Since the announcement of the Disney+ streaming service, many fans have been wondering exactly what films and shows would be included on the platform. After all, Disney seems to be an ever-expanding entity that will eventually absorb all of Hollywood. They have both movies and TV shows for children, teens, and adults.  Disney created the animated classics that have entertained generations of kids. Then they eventually got their own cable channel, where they expanded into original sitcoms for kids and tweens. And in the last decade, they made two massive moves, acquiring both Lucasfilm and Marvel Studios. Since the ginormous…

Lee Pace. He’s that guy. The one you’ve seen in more movies than you realize. The one whose name might not ring a bell, but the face does. That is, when it hasn’t been altered beyond recognition to play a character of another species. That very face, with its easy smile and aw-shucks affability, has been the one behind some of the most memorable heroes – and villains – of both film and television in recent years. Yes, I’m cheating and including TV roles this time around, because it’s where some of his best work can be found. So, let’s…
