The MCU has gone on nearly a decade with hit after hit with fans, beginning with the very iconic Iron Man in 2008 to jump start it all. Things have gone a very long way for our characters – but could a familiar face we haven’t seen since the beginning be popping in again soon? There has been talk of antagonist Obadiah Stane, aka The Iron Monger, returning with rumors hitting all over. While a somewhat forgettable Marvel villain, who wouldn’t want to see more of our beloved Jeff Bridges? The actor himself even gave his thoughts a few weeks back:…

Canadian actor John Dunsworth passed away today at 71 from a sudden and very serious illness. Surrounded by family, he left the world peacefully. Dunsworth was best known for playing Jim Lahey, the drunkenly irrational trailer park manager of Sunnydale in the hit show Trailer Park Boys. From his hilarious moments of intoxication to his analogies composed of “sh-t”, Dunsworth’s iconic role as the antagonist the show was one of the most memorable in the adventures of Julian, Ricky and Bubbles. The news of this unfortunate passing was reported by his daughter Sarah Dunsworth, also known for playing Sarah in…
The Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn’t been able to make use of The Hulk like the rest of the Avenger’s roster. This is easily upsetting to many fans as Hulk is one of the initial 4 leads and yet has been stuck with second fiddle. Our not-so-jolly green giant has been without a solo film since 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, and the last we saw of him was in 2015’s Age of Ultron. Still, word from Mark Ruffalo and Kevin Feige are they are now working around that with an unofficial “Hulk trilogy”, acting as an arc for the character. Speaking…
When it was announced we’d be getting a solo Venom movie from Sony that wouldn’t be connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there was a lot of skepticism. It was then revealed that Tom Hardy would be playing the character, that it’d be R-Rated and will feature Carnage as the villain. Aside from the fact that it won’t be in the MCU, I think those are all pretty strong indicators that Sony wants to make the project work. At New York Comic Con, we were able to speak with Venom’s co-creator Todd McFarlane exclusively about what he thought of the…
There are few Marvel characters as beloved as The Punisher. Okay, that’s obviously not true, but The Punisher is definitely a character that resonates with all different kinds of people. As is the case with any live-action adaptation of a comic book character, there’s going to be lots of love – or lots of hate. The Punisher has had four different live action adaptations. The first three featuring Dolph Lundgren, Thomas Jane and Ray Stevenson had their moments but there was something missing from each one. Lundgren’s version was said to be terrible, Jane’s version was said to be not…
Spawn fans currently have a lot to be excited about. After years and years of waiting, a reboot of the 1997 movie is finally scheduled to begin production in 2018 and it’s probably going to be the adaptation comic book fans have been waiting for for some time now. According to Spawn’s creator Todd McFarlane, though, that might not be all that’s on the way for the character. I was able to speak to McFarlane exclusively at New York Comic Con, and asked him about the possibility of getting a reboot of the animated series: “I’m going to get the…
DC Comics fans know Geoff Johns quite well, and he’s quite respected in the comic book community. At his New York Comic Con Panel for Doomsday Clock and I was able to personally ask him a few questions. First, about the possibility of DC making a controversial change like Marvel did for Captain America, or any changes for that matter: “Well, Superman’s not going to be a Nazi or anything like that.” He added: “It’s just a balance of the writing and look – it’s our relative balance and our subjective viewpoint of the balance that we’re doing on the…
Guillermo del Toro has grown to be a staple name in atmospheric cinema. From the fantastic to the frightful, del Toro brings us to a new experience with every visit to his directing world of grim fantasy and monsters. His Hellboy duology is no exception, as his ambitious take on the comic book by Mike Mignola was something truly unique. Outstanding environments, gloomy designs, and the big Red played by the perfectly cast Ron Perlman. Every detail was counted by this visionary and the movies were met with praise as the definitive screen adaptation of the character. Unfortunately, with nearly…
It’s been 14 years since Angelina Jolie made the role of Lara Croft her own. And much like the recent re-imagining of the Square Enix games, a new beginning to the Tomb Raider has come to film. Based off the well-known action-adventure games that started in 1996, this upcoming film seems to take closer inspiration from the 2013 reboot and stars Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, The Danish Girl) as the iconic Lara Croft. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ndhidEmUbI The synopsis is as follows: Lara Croft is the fiercely independent daughter of an eccentric adventurer who vanished when she was scarcely a teen. Now a young…
If there’s one thing making strong headlines along with the hype for the Justice League movie, it’s the numerous updates going on behind the scenes. With the DCEU equivalent to Marvel’s The Avengers, a lot of precision and even complications have arisen to this huge ace underneath Warner Bros’s sleeve. Their message is fairly clear: they are really counting on the film to succeed, even if it has to be without director Zack Snyder returning. Re-shoots requested by Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill’s mustache fiasco, the shift in tone based off ratings of its predecessor films, the stories going on to make this film…
