Lionsgate is developing a tent-pole film adaptation of Gearbox Software’s Borderlands video game franchise – according to Variety. It will be produced by a familiar name to Marvel fans – Avi Arad. His son, Ari will also produce. So far, the Borderlands game franchise consists of Borderlands, Borderlands 2, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Tales from the Borderlands. So, obviously Lionsgate sees movie franchise potential here. The game has also sold more than 26 million worldwide. Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal) has entered talks with Marvel Studios to play a villain in Doctor Strange – according to Variety. He’s not been given an official offer but will be presented with one shortly. The actor had previously been up for the role of Malekith in Thor: The Dark World but turned it down to play the title role in Hannibal.
