TVLine is reporting that Ben Barnes has joined the cast of The Punisher, with some interesting speculation: Netflix’s latest Marvel spinoff, The Punisher, has cast English actor Ben Barnes (The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian) in a series-regular role opposite Jon Bernthal’s titular vigilante, TVLine has learned exclusively. Character info is sketchy, but one rumor making the rounds has Barnes — who will next be seen in HBO’s big-budgetWestworld — portraying antagonist Bobby Saint, the corrupt crime prodigy played in the 2004 film by James Carpinello. As you all probably remember, the last time we saw the character was in…

There’s been speculation as to when Jon Bernthal’s Punisher solo series would begin filming and when it would be released. Most reports say that we can expect to see the series some time next year, while others have said 2018. It’s also been said that Bernthal could make an appearance on The Defenders. Turns out this interesting bit of information we’ve received from our source could go hand in hand with that rumor: Defenders and Punisher are both set to start filming by the end of the year, as Punisher is starting to narrow down casting on key roles. Defenders is…
It definitely seems that Marvel is looking to branch out a bit from their very dark Netflix shows. Series for New Warriors, Runaways and Cloak and Dagger (if made) will definitely break from that trend and we have an update on the last one: Cloak and Dagger’s showrunner is ABC Family/Freeform vet John Ziffren. He was picked because of his new take on the premise (as opposed to Marvel’s earlier plans of setting the show in a post-Katrina New Orleans, a setup that Freeform and Marvel now feel is a bit dated, as well as more expensive than Los Angeles),…
Last week we reported that Marvel was shopping around a New Warriors series that featured Speedball, Justice, Ms. Marvel, Squirrel Girl, Night Thrasher, and Rage. That’s different enough, right? Well, this week, we’ve been given an another interesting heads up from a source close to the situation: Marvel is developing an adaptation of Deadly Hands of Kung Fu (with a different title), an ensemble piece that will feature the Hector Ayala incarnation of the White Tiger as a key role. For those of you who didn’t know, Deadly Hands of Kung Fu was a series first published back in the 70’s that included Shang Chi,…
In something we reported almost two weeks ago, Joe Manganiello has OFFICIALLY been confirmed as Deathstroke. The confirmation comes from The Wall Street Journal, who writes the following: DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer Geoff Johns confirmed the casting in his first interview discussing his new role overseeing Warner Bros.’ movies based on DC Comics characters. He declined to comment on whether Deathstroke has a cameo in “Justice League,” which is currently shooting in London. Johns also declined to say when the Batman movie will be released, although the earliest it could likely hit theaters is 2018. Johns and Affleck are currently working…
It seems that nothing can be kept a secret for very long these days – due to social media and internet, everything leaks out before a release date. Apparently, Star Wars is no different – as some very interesting new details have hit the web. OBVIOUS SPOILERS AHEAD!!! MakingStarWars.net (translated from StarWarsUnion) has uncovered some very interesting details about Star Wars: Episode VIII: Recently I glimpsed some photos of a set on the water at Malin Head. It looks like Mel Gibson really isn’t a fan of superhero films. While promoting his new film Hacksaw Ridge, Mel was asked about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and sounded off on that film – and the superhero genre in general: [I]t’s a piece of shit. I’m not interested in the stuff,” Gibson told EW while discussing the modest budget of his upcoming film. “Do you know what the difference between real superheroes and comic book superheroes is? Real superheroes didn’t wear spandex. So I don’t know. Spandex must cost a lot. He didn’t stop there: I look at them and…

It was recently reported that Marvel and ABC Studios were working on a series based on NEW WARRIORS that would focus on Squirrel Girl. Nothing else was really mentioned after that. From the sound of it, though, is that it won’t really be anything like the current Marvel shows on ABC and Netflix. A source of ours gave us an interesting update on the status of the current show that Marvel is shopping around: “The team makeup of the current version of the show being shopped around consists of Speedball, Justice, Ms. Marvel, Squirrel Girl, Night Thrasher, and Rage. The tone…
From the moment we heard that Ghost Rider was going to be on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and wouldn’t be Johnny Blaze – we knew that we were in for something very different. Well, EW has exclusively obtained the first image of the character and it’s just that. Different: In regards to staying true to the character, here’s what producer Jed Whedon had to say: As always, we are going to put our own spin on the character,” he said. “We are staying true to the comics in the places where we feel like it’s really important — we love the…
