1995’s Judge Dredd starring Sylvester Stallone is generally regarded as a pile of trash. The first 15 minutes is something that all 2000 AD fans can probably appreciate – but after that, it’s awful. Stallone takes his helmet off (something Judge Dredd never does) and the film never gets going. Did I mention Rob Schneider is in it?  2012’s Dredd, however, is regarded as a much better film. It was well perceived by fans and critics alike, but bombed at the Box Office. Some blame it on poor marketing – while others blame it on the stigma of the Stallone film…

One of Hollywood’s greatest ever icons and acting talents, when listing Robert De Niro movies, it is a far harder task to decide which of his films to omit. True, his eight film collaboration with Martin Scorsese yielded his best work, and indeed half of those have been included here, but honorable mention must go to Mean Streets, Cape Fear and King of Comedy as other great Martin Scorsese picks. Away that director’s work, the New Yorker enjoyed an Oscar for his Italian speaking role in Godfather part 2, and found acclaim in films like Deer Hunter, Cop Land, The…

A few days ago, we reported on Jon Bernthal saying The Punisher would beat Batman in a fight at a Q & A session at NYCC. In a video that has now been analyzed by our staff countless times, we’ve found another interesting bit of information. A fan asked Bernthal whether or not he thought Punisher and Deadpool would be ‘good friends’. His response? “Eh.”  Or something that sounded like it (2:26 mark of this video): https://youtu.be/nshUilmSkJM?t=2m26s Obviously, due to the rights situation, with Deadpool at FOX and Punisher at Marvel Studios, it will probably be a while before we see…

New York Comic Con came and went – but it wasn’t without some interesting news. We first reported that Jon Bernthal got inspiration from Thomas Jane’s Dirty Laundry short and now, we’ve stumbled upon another unnoticed quote from the actor’s panel at the convention. In a series of very quick questions to end his panel, the actor was asked who he thought would win in a fight between Batman and The Punisher and his response was straight to the point: “Punisher.” Given there wasn’t elaboration and it was in a quick Q & A session (video of which you can…

Apparently, Alex Trebek has a very, very active social life and looks down on “nerds”. Now, I don’t know that to be fact, but – you’d think that was the case after watching him bash a contestant on Jeopardy the other night. Trebek was talking to Susan Cole of Bowie, Maryland, while she was doing her Jeopardy introduction. She said she likes Nerdcore, which confused the host: It’s people who identify as nerdy, rapping about the things they love — video games, science fiction, having a hard time meeting romantic partners, you know, it’s really catchy and fun.” He…

Being a T-Rex can be hard. You were once the most feared creature on the planet – and then boom. 25 million hits in two days. This particular T-Rex was mocked for having short, little and useless arms and goes into a deep depression. That is, of course, until he gets a new Audi that has a Piloted Driving feature. It’s a pretty unique idea for a commercial and one that is executed to perfection – as head of VFX Florian Zachau explains: The biggest challenge was to make the dinosaur look depressed. A T-Rex is a rather stiff character and there…

Back in 2009, Platinum Dunes remade Friday the 13th. It was met with negative reviews, but was considered a success at the Box Office, given that it made $91.4 million on a $19 million dollar budget. It had a huge opening weekend ($40.5 million) but but had a massive 80.4% drop ($7.9 million) the next weekend. With the “success” of that film, Platinum Dunes decided it would be a good idea to remake A Nightmare on Elm Street and re-cast Freddy Krueger. Make no mistake about it, remaking Friday the 13th or even Halloween is much different than doing it with Nightmare…

When it comes to FOX, it seems that with any show they get, it will almost certainly be cancelled. So, when they get a good or even decent show, it’s best to not even watch or get attached – because it will most likely be gone. This is a bit of old news, but we felt it was relevant to re-post with Thomas Dekker giving his thoughts on the show. Sci-Fi fans seem to know this all too well with Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles being cancelled (and more recently Almost Human) despite having a pretty favorable rating with fans and…
