The Killing Joke is not a happy story. It’s one of the darkest stories in mainstream comics, both in its themes and its execution. The story is about how just one bad day can destroy a human being and warp them in to something inhuman. This idea applies to both Batman and Joker as both suffered great tragedy and emerged from it as extreme personalities. So, when it was finally announced that the legendary graphic novel would be adapted into an animated film, fans had to wonder if some of the content would have to be watered down to comply…

The Martian is the story of Mark Watney (Matt Damon) the botanist on a mission to Mars. When the team aborts their mission due to a freak storm, Mark is injured and presumed dead by his crew who leave him behind. Mark miraculously survives and is stranded on Mars with only what the crew left behind to aid him in surviving long enough to await a rescue that may never come. Okay. I’ll start by saying this I’ve had a bad couple of days, I was meant to see this film long before now but though various circumstances I’ve miss…
DC entertainment may not be crossing their Cinematic and TV universe over like Marvel but that isn’t stopping them from using one to advertise the other. According to Heroic Hollywood, DC plans to release two teaser trailers about one minute long during the commercial breaks for Supergirl on CBS and Gotham on Fox. The Supergirl teaser will focus on Superman’s role in the upcoming film, a welcome sign to fans of the “The Man of Tomorrow” (title idea for next Superman film DC) amid the growing rumors that Superman is being effectively phased out of what was meant to be…
While promoting his new film Interstellar: The Dr Mann Story, I mean The Martian, Matt Damon told NY Daily News that he would be interested in doing a superhero movie, if it was a Christopher Nolan helmed Daredevil film. Damon expanded saying that he was offered the role along with friend and Good Will Hunting co-writer, Ben Affleck (who landed the role in the now infamous film), but turned it down due to not knowing director Mark Steven Johnson’s work. Here’s what Damon had to say: “For us it was always Daredevil.” He then spoke of his and Ben’s childhood riding the…
In May of 1939, in the pages of Detective Comics #27, a pulp detective and anthology series, a new character made his debut appearance. His name was The Bat-Man (later just Batman). A lot of the work involved in terms of the characterization and backstory were the contribution of writer Bill Finger, and was co-created by artist Bob Kane, who had the original idea for the character. Like any creator, such as William Shakespeare or Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Bill Finger had created a character that would become as iconic as any in the great pantheon of fictional characters, without…
The Supergirl TV show has been getting a lot of hassle from fans. Mostly, this is due to the first trailer looking like the Black Widow SNL sketch. Now, fans have more to moan about with the first look at actor Iddo Goldberg as Red Tornado. Red Tornado is an android with the ability to create tornados created by Dr. T.O. Morrow (ha! I see what you did DC, very clever). Goldberg will also be portraying Morrow. The main complain seems to be that he just looks like a Vision wannabe and yeah it’s hard not to think that…
The new Fantastic Four film (mockingly referred to as Fant4stic) hit theaters and the response has been pretty negative. That being said, I really wanted to like this movie – going into the theater amid the reviews in hopes that something worthwhile would be in it and trying to think of excuses for what was being presented to me. Not since Green Lantern, or even the previous Fantastic Four films (which I’ve really never cared for, though I did enjoy Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis in their roles) has a superhero film been this widely panned by the fans. Unlike…
Earlier this month, it was finally confirmed that an adaptation of Alan Moore and Brain Bolland’s character defining 48 page graphic novel The Killing Joke is in the works, shortly after it was confirmed that Joker voice actor veteran Mark Hamill will voice the Clown Prince of Crime – perhaps for the last time. While it remains to be confirmed if Kevin Conroy will return as Batman and if Bruce Timm will be producing – its not a stretch to imagine he will. Now – whether it’s West and Romero, Keaton and Nicholson or Bale and Ledger, everyone has their definitive…
You know you’ve made it when you get the cover of Entertainment Weekly over Batman and Superman. Deadpool has always been a bit of a dark horse – when he wins, he has little to show for it and when he does the right thing, he gets little love for it. He’s under appreciated by the other characters in the Marvel Universe – seen as an annoyance at best and a psychotic at worst. I think that’s why he’s so popular, though. He’s funny and a lot of people can relate to him in that regard. This is why it’s…
As we get closer and closer to the release of Ant-Man, marvel are teasing us with new reveals little by little. BIG SPOILERS AHEAD!!! So, in the most recent Ant-Man promo spot we catch a short clip of Anthony Mackie as the Falcon AKA Sam Wilson. Not much more to say as the clip lasts only a second and he’s just standing in this cool new Red and Black suit. The big question is how Falcon will fit in to the plot – will he team up with Ant-Man or does he just show up at the end to recruit…
