TOHO has recently streamed the second trailer for Godzilla Resurgence which will come roaring to Japanese cinemas on July 29th in IMAX, MX4D and 4DX. Anime director Hideaki Anno and live action Attack on Titan film director Shinji Higuchi are both collaborating on this new incarnation of everyone’s favourite monster. Higuchi recently promised that this will be the scariest Godzilla yet as he has quoted real worldwide horror events such as 9/11, the Tōhoku earthquake and subsequent tsunami which trigged the Fukushima nuclear power plant crisis having stripped the world of its innocence. Using a variety of effects including miniatures, computer graphics and special effects, this’ll be an…

Growing up in the 90’s was awesome. We had Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Pokémon, Goosebumps and countless other franchises that had blown all of our tiny, little minds. In recent years, these franchises have trickled into the new generation although they’ve always felt like lame attempts at recapturing their former glory. To put it bluntly, the 90’s were the golden years. However a couple of years ago, Joseph Kahn released a tounge-in-cheek short that depicted the Power Rangers in a ‘dark and gritty’ manner. Full of R-rated violence and some solid fighting choreography, this re-imagining recaptured the hearts of many fans from the past. Well now Lionsgate/Saban Films…
After the success of Blue Ruin, Jeremy Saulnier returns with Green Room in which a group of punk rockers have to fight for their own survival against a group of neo-Nazis. Trailers have so far been able to successfully showcase a variety of violence and an element of tension to this cat and mouse thriller, with Patrick Stewart menacingly providing his expertise as the big bad. With a strong cast and an interesting premise, Green Room started off by playing to a handful of festivals to strong critical acclaim. However as with Blue Ruin, I found myself having a slightly different experience. First of…

Well fear not my beauties, Kevin Smith has recently recorded his podcast ‘Hollywood Babble-On’ in which he shared his thoughts on the new incarnation of everyone’s favourite Ghostbusting…
How time flies. It only seems like yesterday when the internet went up in flames over the news that the Ghostbusters franchise would be receiving a reboot. It then quickly went into meltdown when Sony announced that we’ll be receiving a female version of this iconic series which shocked many fans to the very core. Questions were asked. Why? Does this franchise really need a reboot? Why does it have to be all women? Women! URGH! Equal rights has gone too far etc. Pitchforks and torches were set and a barrage of hate was splattered across many comment sections around the web. Then the trailer arrived. And in all…
Yet more casting news, Spider-Man: Homecoming has added another member to its youthful cast with The Nice Guy’s Angourie Rice joining the troupe. The news comes from The Hollywood Reporter who announced the casting earlier today. There’s no information yet on who she might be playing but judging from looks alone, it seems as if Rice would be the perfect Gwen Stacey. Whether or not she’ll be playing the part is an entirely different matter however, with Gwen playing such a big role in Marc Webb’s adaption, it’ll be a little surprising to see the character enter the frame once again. With rumours circulating…
Take a deep breath, Now breathe. Unfortunately whether we like it or not, the new Ghostbusters reboot/reimagining/rework or whatever the hell you want to call it, is going to be released soon. The trailers have so far caused nothing but mass hysteria amongst the Ghostbuster enthusiasts and the general public have seemed to be underwhelmed with the footage that’s been released so far. With the release drawing closer, it’s now come to that stage where TV Spots have started to appear, revealing plenty of new footage and ‘witty’ liners. However there is one in particular titled ‘The Slimers’ which has revealed a new…
John Carpenter is a horror legend. He created the blueprint for slasher genre with Halloween and pushed the boundaries of special effects with The Thing. He’s responsible for a variety of iconic film soundtracks and whole handful of cult movies that people worldwide adore. And he’s a man who doesn’t hold his words … He recently bashed Friday The 13th as a cynical rip off, with people many people in the business simply wanting to make a quick buck. However, after talking in a recent episode on the Marc Maron podcast, it seems as if John Carpenter feels the quite similar about The Walking Dead. “[The…
Reviews have started to come in for the ultimate edition to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and so far they’ve been positive. Many critics have cited how the ultimate edition is able to expand the story more coherently and how the characters intentions are a lot clearer. However, people have now started to wonder as to why this version of the movie wasn’t released in the first place. It apparently seems as if Warner Bros. were simply not comfortable enough with releasing a 3 hour length film into the multiplexes. Speaking with Collider back in March, Zack Snyder explained that the ultimate edition…
With casting news coming in thick and fast for Spider-Man: Homecoming, many fans have had their hopes rejuvenated in the character after his successful inclusion into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However it seems as if Homecoming may not be the only partnership that Sony and Marvel Studios have in mind, as in a recent interview with THR, Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman, Tom Rothman, recently discussed what plans he had in mind for the future. When asked about the possibility of building a Spider-Man universe outside of the partnership and about the possibility of Sony working with Marvel on other projects, he had this to say … ” Yes…
