The Gift. Holy sh*t. In the sea of summer films, this one has gone completely under the radar. You might have seen an ad here or there with the tagline “What’s in the box”? That line has never been more intense since David Fincher’s Seven. I will try my hardest not to spoil the movie for you because it’s a film that should be spoiled as little as possible. Simple premise, happily married couple, Simon (Bateman) and Robyn (Hall) bump into Gordo (Edgerton), an old school buddy from Simon’s past. Secrets are revealed and lives are changed. Are you still…

So here we are. The summer is still going and that means we have ourselves another superhero comic book film. Only this Fantastic Four is the third attempt 20th Century Fox has launched this comic book team into a franchise. Third times a charm, right? Wrong. Now, I’m not a big fan of the characters. It holds a small place in my heart, mainly because I read the comics growing up here and there and get the gist of the characters and what they stand for. I’m not going to judge this just solely as a comic book film because…
The Batman v Superman trailer has already been parodied a few times now, but this one is actually pretty unique. The people over at CineMash have mixed the trailer with the soundtrack from the recent Deadpool trailer and what you get is a BvS featuring Salt n’ Peppa and DMX. Some might not find it funny but you have to admit – it’s at least interesting: What do you guys think? Be sure to sound off below!
In the most recent issue of Empire, a part of their Batman v Superman cover story covers the upcoming slate of films of WB’s DC Cinematic Universe. It managed to confirm the beginning of filming for Wonder Woman and Justice League as well: Logistically it is staggering. As Batman V Superman gains its coat of special effects, and the various stages of editing, scoring, grading and sound mixing are completed, Deborah Snyder, along with Roven, is watching over a sandbox that stretches around the world.Jenkins is in London prepping Wonder Woman, which will shoot there this autumn. Suicide Squad, already…
Sam Mendes takes one last shot at Bond with Spectre. The 24th Bond film starring Daniel Craig, continues with the aftermath of the previous film, Skyfall. 007 is in full swing as he begins to discover an evil and deadly organization known as Spectre. I’ve always loved the Bond films that pitted the secret agent against this group and have double down my excitement to the fact that they’re bringing back the classic henchmen trope like Jaws and Oddjob. And theories have been thrown in the mix as Christoph Waltz may be playing the classic Bond villain known as Ernst…
Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, Funny People, This is 40) is back to directed this comedy written by and starring Amy Schumer in her first lead role. Schumer takes her style of comedy and brings it to theater for audience members to see if she can carry the weight that comes along with a mainstream comedy…and does it pretty well. Tom Hardy is The F*cking Man. I’m a sucker for British Gangster Films and it’s been a while since we got a cool and stylish one like this. Based on the book The Profession of Violence: The Rise and Fall of the Kray Twins by John Pearson. Legend is a British -American crime thriller film written and directed by Brian Helgeland (LA Confidential). The story is about relationship, rise and fall of the British gangster brothers the Kray twins. The trailer looks hip, violent and with a taste of dry humor that the Brits do so well. Hardy likes to…
Marvel is starting phase three this year and they decided to have an unfamiliar superhero to kick open the door. We’ve had our fill of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and Hulk in the previous phrases and it’s time to start with some new faces. We’ve had a taste with The Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and a mouth full of Guardians of the Galaxy. Now it’s time for Marvel to keep adding to the roster of Avengers for the inevitable battle that will come with the Avengers: Infinity Wars. Dr. Strange, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and the Inhumans will be…
Now before you read further on, you might be saying to yourself, “Didn’t this dude just review a coming-of-age story with Me, Earl and The Dying Girl?” Well I would say to you, “Shut up. Me, Earl and the Dying Girl was a curious viewing. Dope is a film I’ve been looking forward to.” As the story goes, this takes an updated look at a boy finding love and trying to survive his high school life in Inglewood, California. The players are introduced in the typical narrating way (voiced by Forest Whitaker) but this does not give too much away…
Daredevil has been a critical success for Marvel, along with Agents of Shield and Agent Carter being hits, could we see some of these characters make the transition to the big screen? Recently io9 spoke to Kevin Feige and asked the question: “As those [shows] come out, as those get into the culture I think they’re, just like what happens in the movies, tools in the toolbox for some of those shows. And what happens on those shows could be tools in the toolbox of the movies. I think that’ll happen at some point.” Obviously Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and…
