Here we are now in 2015 and Star Wars fans are getting what they’ve always been wanting – a continuation of the Star Wars Legacy. Sure there has been books, comics and other forms of entertainment that gave us an idea of what happened after the battle over the forest moon of Endor, but never on this mass of a scale. With the prequels now a distant memory, it was time to go back to a galaxy far far away and explore to see if Lucas Films, now owned by Disney, can catch force lighting in a bottle for a…

The Tragedy of Macbeth has been adapted into so many languages, and adopted by so many cultures and forms of art that it’s expected to keep going until the end of time. Well, let’s find out if it’ll be worth your time and money as we go back into the world of this war drama and the characters that occupy it. You know the story if…
Creed is another installment in the seemingly “thought to be over” Rocky legacy. When Rocky Balboa was released in 2006, many thought of it as the proper send off for the character that Sylvester Stallone was most well known for, and a staple in cinema history. Some might have seen this film as Hollywood once again tapping into the deep well of classic film to revamp, remake, or reboot. Well, audience members, I am thrilled to say this film doesn’t fit that mold. This is a new classic on its own and, in my opinion, might be the best damn…
As horror fans let the hangover of festivities roll past them, it’s always a good idea to curl up with a good horror film to help the time fly by. They can range from the classic, to the obscure, to the downright “What the Fuck?”. One film that falls under the realm of classic, is John Carpenter’s original Halloween. It blew the door open on the slasher film genre, and influenced many future directors into emulating Carpenter’s method of storytelling, camerawork, and style of soundtrack. The quality of the subsequent sequels would have the movies range from good, to bad,…
On this day, millions of joyful tears were shed as the official trailer for Star War: The Force Awakens hit televisions and the internet like a force push from a thousand Jedi. More is revealed of what’s to come of the battle between the rebel alliance and the empire. Still no solid look of Luke, but we are given plentiful glimpses of the new cast consisting of John Boyega, Daisy Ridely, Oscar Isaac, and Adam Driver. Han and Chewie show up once again but we finally get to see the beautiful Princesses Leia. Also, Kylo Ren intentions are more present…
The film Steve Jobs has been on and off again for many years. David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin were to team-up again after there collaboration on The Social Network but with the added bonus of Christian Bale to play the title role. After many bumps in the road with Fincher and Bale exiting, Boyle and Fassbender stepped in to fill the roles as director and lead. With this combination of top notch actors, director and writer, the pieces were perfectly aligned for this biopic about one of the most innovating mind of our generation. As the synopsis explained, the movie…
This week, the guys at SchmoesKnow.com have an unnamed source that says Star Wars: The Force Awakens might feature a after credit scene involving Rouge One: A Star Wars Story. Since Lucasfilms is under Disney, it seems this story might be true. Given that Marvel (also under Disney) is well known for after credit scenes, it would be highly likely that they’d want to continue that trend for the Star Wars franchise. However, since Rouge One is to be set prior to Star Wars: A New Hope, this post credit scene can be viewed as confusing. With less than…
M. Night Shyamalan is well known for having a track record that has been on a steady decline for some time. He started to lose his artistic sight at the tail end of Signs, more so with The Village and crash landed with The Happening, The Last Airbender and After Earth. So he decided to take a step back and try his hand at the still lively found-footage genre on a low budget scale with minimal studio influence. I used to champion Shyamalan’s work years ago and would sometimes make excuse for his short comings. But as I grew older…
Today, a promo clip for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released on the official Star Wars Instagram…and it is beautiful. The tone is dread for our heroes Daisy Ridley’s Rey and John Boyega’s Finn as the scale of the Empire’s army is shown. Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren pops in with the reveal of his lightsaber in the snowy dark woods like we’ve seen in the trailers, only this time, Finn seems to be waiting for Ren. Lightsaber unsheathe and ready for battle. All while the Empire’s haunting tune plays in the background. Check it out and mark another day off…
