Good news for fans of The Tomorrow War – it looks like a sequel is reportedly already in development! Indeed, due to the success of the film on Amazon, it looks like The Tomorrow War 2 is already in the development process. Of course, this should still be taken with a grain of salt – as Amazon and Skydance have yet to make any official comments regarding Tomorrow War 2.
The report comes to us from Deadline – who revealed regarding The Tomorrow War 2:
“In response to this past weekend’s hugely successful global streaming debut of The Tomorrow War, Skydance and Amazon Studios are in discussions, I hear, on the development of a sequel to the Chris Pratt sci-fi pic.”
Furthermore, they noted that “the whole creative gang” is wanted to return “both in front of and behind the camera”. This would include director Chris McKay and screenwriter Zach Dean. As for those appearing in front of the camera, this would include cast members from the original film such as Chris Pratt, Yvonne Strahovski, Betty Gilpin, Sam Richardson, Edwin Hodge and J.K. Simmons.
It appears that the decision to throw The Tomorrow War 2 into development was due to the streaming success of The Tomorrow War. In fact, the film was so successful that it actually landed at the No. 1 spot across streaming platforms upon its release. The film has also gathered incredibly positive reviews to go along with the high numbers from all across the globe. As such, it makes sense that all parties involved would want to move forward with a sequel.
