One of the more surprising announcements last year is that a new Children of the Corn film somehow got in front of cameras during the early days of the pandemic. It was announced at a time when it seemed unlikely anything would get shot for quite some time. Nevertheless, it was made clear that the Children of the Corn franchise can’t be stopped. And, despite a small period of silence, it looks like the promotional campaign for the new film is now in progress. As you can see below, a variety of new photos for the upcoming Children of the Corn film have been released. And they promise a very dark and eerie take on the iconic material.
The images, courtesy of Bloody-Disgusting, are about what you’d expect to see for a modern day Children of the Corn film. The horror franchise has lived a very long life, and sometimes it’s surprising to see just how many sequels they’ve managed to squeeze out of the name. Nevertheless, they deserve some credit for not outright launching the evil kids into space. What’s more, these images really do look like a lot of work was put into the film – with eerie cornfields, rusty water towers, and damaged cars, the set design is something to truly appreciate.
In the new film…
“A psychopathic twelve-year-old girl in a small town in Nebraska recruits all the other children and goes on a bloody rampage, killing the corrupt adults and anyone else who opposes her. A bright high schooler who won’t go along with the plan is the town’s only hope of survival.”
The new Children of the Corn reboot was written and directed by Kurt Wimmer. The cast includes Elena Kampouris, Kate Moyer, Callan Mulvey, and Bruce Spence.
Hopefully we’ll have more information like a release date and official trailer soon. As such, stay tuned to ScreenGeek for those details as we have them. Until then, at least these photos give an interesting glimpse into the newest Children of the Corn installment.
