Avengers: Endgame saw the end of Tony Stark AKA Iron Man. The beloved Marvel character saved the universe by sacrificing himself in an epic end scene. Stark’s journey began in 2008 in Iron Man, so to say that it was a long one is probably an understatement. However, some fans might not know that we were almost given a different ending that saw Stark meeting his daughter, Morgan. That scene is available online, but now, to celebrate the two year anniversary of Endgame, Robert Downey Jr. has released a behind the scenes look at it.

As to why the scene was deleted, The Russo Brothers said:
“Since Thanos had that poignant experience with his daughter in Infinity War, we started playing with the idea that there was something interesting and resonant in the symmetry with Tony and his daughter. The reason we ended up moving away from it is, once we shot it, we began to understand as we were actually shooting it, is that the audience didn’t have a relationship with his adult daughter in the film. They had a relationship with his young daughter but not with his adult daughter. It didn’t feel like it was as powerful as we may have thought so we began to move away from it.”
It definitely makes sense, and the movie we ended up getting was fine without it. However, with the Snyder Cut of Justice League being released this year, it would be interesting to see the Russo’s Cut of Avengers: Endgame, with all of the footage that ended up on the cutting room floor. When it comes to something like that, and everything Marvel Cinematic Universe related, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
