Ever since it was revealed that Man of Steel was the first film in cinematic continuity of DC films, dubbed the DC Extended Universe, fans have been eager to see how the movies will begin to crossover. First we had rumors that Affleck would be appearing in Suicide Squad later this year (spoiler alert: he will), and now we have a clue as to when we can expect to see Superman in a movie where he’s not a titular character.
In an interview with Brazillian magazine Super Interessante, Henry Cavill touched on whether we will be seeing the caped crusader in Suicide Squad or Wonder Woman.
“Not in ‘Suicide Squad, ‘In ‘Wonder Woman,’ I haven’t heard anything yet, but watch that space. And in anything else, I don’t know just yet if anything else gets shot between.”
While shooting down the possibility of stopping by in Suicide Squad, Cavill has left the door open to Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman is still shooting, so a Superman cameo isn’t impossible. Considering Cavill’s answer though, it’s hard to think his appearance would be anything more than a tie to the DC Extended Universe, rather than a substantial story arc. Another possibility is the ever present post-credits scene.
Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice opens March 25th. Suicide Squad opens August 5th. Wonder Woman is slated for a June 23rd, 2017 release.
