Zack Snyder’s Justice League is continuing to gain mostly positive traction on HBO Max. The four hour long cut displaying Snyder’s original vision seems to have given fans a better version of DC’s ultimate superhero team. But, even with four hours of story, there were still some plot holes that fans cannot ignore. The main one revolves around the new villain, Darkseid. While he may be a god in the DC universe, apparently he doesn’t have the best memory or navigating skills. Why would the ruler of Apokolips not know that it was Earth that he found the Anti-Life Equation. Well, Zack Snyder answers that question.
When asked about this plot hole by a fan over on his favorite form of social media, Vero, Snyder offered up a simple answer to explain away the issue:
“He almost died when he returned to Apokolips, he was in a fight for power and much time passed before he was in a position of power again, and by then all who had been with him had been slayed.”
To put it into context, we know that Wonder Woman is 5,000 years old. This first battle with the Amazonians, the Atlantians, the Old Gods, and the Lanterns against Darkseid and his army happened thousands of years before her birth. So, with so much time passed and Darkseid focused on taking control of Apokolips, on top of all his previous ‘right hand men’ being slayed, he had no way to know what planet it was that he had found the Anti-Life Equation.

This honestly feels a little weak as far as fixing the hole in the story, but it is what it is. It does answer as to why, but it still feels off that this god had no idea what planet he had found it on the first time. And, as WB is currently stating that this version is done and no sequels will come, we may never get to explore this plot hole further. Regardless, the Snyder Cut is a definitive step up from the theatrical release fans got in 2017.
