Thor: Love and Thunder is already sporting a massive cast with the likes of Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Chris Pratt and Christian Bale – so you’d probably think that that’s enough. Well, if any Marvel Cinematic Universe movie has told us anything, it’s that if Marvel Studios wants someone for their movie – they’ll get them – and that’s no different for today, as it appears that Academy Award winning actor Russell Crowe has officially joined the movie.
The news comes to us from Deadline who writes that the role was supposed to be a “fun cameo” for fans, but when pictures of the actor hanging out with the cast and crew during filming were leaked onto the internet, they had no choice but to confirm the role. Who exactly the Oscar winning actor is playing is uncertain at this point.
Russell Crowe is definitely in Thor Love and Thunder. He visited the South Sydney Rabbitohs game with Natalie Portman, Taika Waititi and Chris Hemsworth 😍 pic.twitter.com/totEVcEw3I

Russell Crowe was a pretty popular pick to play Cable in the 2018 Deadpool sequel, Deadpool 2, before Josh Brolin was ultimately cast. There was even some controversy surrounding that when Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld said that Crowe should “read” for the part – something that Crowe reportedly took offense to being that he doesn’t read for parts. Crowe didn’t seem too bothered by it, though, as he tweeted out this image – tagging Liefeld.
Hmmm… @robertliefeld thoughts? https://t.co/l7MpN0JQGp

Will Russell Crowe being playing Cable in the movie? That wouldn’t make much sense, so I doubt it. But the again – you never know. We will know for sure when Thor: Love and Thunder is set to hit theaters on May 6th, 2022.
Who do you think Crowe could be playing in Thor 4? Be sure to tell us your thoughts in the comments!
