Although Stranger Things is not primarily a horror series, there are all sorts of elements from the classic genre that have crept their way into the gigantic Netflix series. Now, according to actor Gaten Matarazzo, it seems that Stranger Things Season 4 will be quite scary. The new season is currently in the process of filming, and thus Matarazzo was able to give a few details about the upcoming episodes.
While speaking with US Weekly, where Matarazzo was asked to describe the new season in one word, he merely replied: “Yikes.”
He further explained why he chose such a word to describe the new season. And as it turns out, Stranger Things Season 4 isn’t just going to be scary – but probably the scariest of them all. More specifically, Matarazzo explained:
“I think most would probably say it’s the scariest [season] out of the previous three, which I love because it’s very fun to film.”
What’s more, Matarazzo also mentioned what it was like working with David Harbour again. As fans know, Season 3 of Stranger Things teased the possibility that David Harbour’s character Hopper had died – something which was later revealed to be untrue. In fact, it looks like his character is alive and currently in Russia.
“I guess most of the cast had a pretty good idea that he might be making a return, but they weren’t too sure about it from the beginning,” the actor admitted. “By the time we had gotten to the table read [and] we had all started reading together, it had been pretty clear. But it was great to have it confirmed when we saw David there.”
It’s pretty exciting to see everything finally fall into place for Stranger Things Season 4, especially after such a rough production schedule. But now that things are starting to get back under control, we can only hope that the cast and crew succeed in making Stranger Things Season 4 as scary as it’s been teased to be. And with the way things are going, that’s probably guaranteed.
