During the press junket for the upcoming WandaVision, which is set to start the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4 when it premieres its first two episodes on Disney Plus January 15th, Kevin Feige has given us quite a few updates whilst being continually vague with details. In fact, The Marvel Entertainment Head could teach a MasterClass on ‘half-truths’ and ‘ambiguity’. One part of the future MCU Feige touched on was the highly anticipated joint venture between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, Tom Holland’s yet to be named Spider-Man 3. While an official title wasn’t mentioned, Feige did at least give us a working title to go off of for now.
Feige spoke with ComicBook about the film and what it means to be tackling yet another third Spidey flick:
“It’s surreal to me that we’re talking about a Spider-Man 3. I worked on a movie called Spider-Man 3 many years ago directed by Mr. Sam Raimi. So this clearly, the shorthand of calling it Spider-Man 3 now, it’s fine. We call it Homecoming 3.”
This coy response to the film’s actual title gives us little to go on. But, you can see the strangeness for Feige, working on yet another Wall Crawler trilogy. One thing that we can garner from this is that they will most likely stick with the ‘Home’ aesthetic for the title. Rumors have circulated that the film will be titled either ‘Homesick’ or ‘Home Worlds’, but nothing concrete yet. Speaking of rumors, Feige addresses the internet ‘sleuths’ as well:
“The fun thing about online speculation when it comes to our stuff is how sometimes it couldn’t be more off the mark and sometimes it’s shockingly close, and that’s held true for the last few years. But saying which is which would take all the fun out of everything.”
So, it looks like Kevin Feige and Marvel won’t confirm or deny any rumors until they decide to make official statements at the proper time. Until then, we will have to continue to sift through the rumor mill that is the internet and try our best to figure out what’s real and what’s not.
