2020 has been a bit of a dumpster fire as far as most of us are concerned. The global pandemic has put the world on hold, we lost so many beloved celebrities, we’re dealing with an election seemingly run by Lambchop (it’s the election that never ends! Yes, it goes on and on, my friends!), and Marvel fans are getting their first year without a Marvel Cinematic Universe film in theaters since 2009! Not all is lost for the MCU faithful, however, as there is some hope for us all in the form of the connected Disney Plus series, WandaVision! As we ramp up to its release sometime before the end of the year, Entertainment Weekly has put together an exposé on the show, and graced us with an amazing collectible cover!
Shared on their Twitter account, EW showcased Paul Bettany’s Vision and Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff as a 50’s sitcom couple, but with a seemingly weird TV-like glitch, bringing them in and out of color. The series will echo this sentiment in profound and wacky ways, flipping sit-com troupes from over several decades on their heads as Wanda seemingly bends reality to her will to find the perfect life in the wake of the Thanos devastation and the loss of her soulmate, Vision.
The series looks to make a major impact in the MCU, as it has now become the launching point for Phase 4 (after release dates shifts due to theaters being closed), as well as a direct tie-in to the highly anticipated Doctor Strange sequel, In the Multiverse of Madness. And, this will be like nothing any Marvel fan has seen yet.
Welcome to the Wanda years! As the first of the MCU’s most ambitious small-screen endeavors, #WandaVision’s wonderfully weird send-up of sitcoms past is @MarvelStudios’ key to the future. Stay tuned for our in-depth cover story coming TOMORROW. pic.twitter.com/cJZ883tfGL

While speaking to EW, Paul Bettany described the show as “life-spoiling”, having too much fun with the old school single camera style 50’s/60’s sit-com format:
“We were all so high by the end of it, we wanted to keep on running the show. Maybe take it out on tour or something. WandaVision on ice.”
Elizabeth Olsen is more familiar with these types of shoes, via proxy, as her sisters, Mary Kate and Ashley, were stars of the hit 90’s sitcom, Full House:
“There was something very meta for my own life because I would visit those tapings as a kid, where my sisters were working [on Full House].”
All in all, this series looks amazing, and fans cannot wait til we get the official word on its release. Many insiders and scoopers have dug through coding and talked to whomever they could to give us our best guess of wither November 27th, or early December, but Marvel and Disney are keeping everything extremely close to the chest. So, keep your eyes peeled, because we’re in for one wild ride!
