Star Wars: Episode VIII Working Title Revealed?

    By Andreas PetersenFebruary 25, 2016

The Star Wars franchise has had a history of strange and interesting working titles, ranging from ones that seem like actual movie titles that mean something to the story (Episode 1: The Beginning, Episode III: Creeping Fear), to mysterious and abstract (Episode IV: The Journal of the Whills, Episode VI: Blue Harvest), to ones that were just meant to troll fans (Episode 2: Jar-Jar’s Big Adventure).  Thanks to a picture tweeted out by Carrie Fisher, we now know what an in-production Episode VIII will forever be known as.  Fisher tweeted a picture of her dog sitting in a chair sporting the logo for Episode VIII during production.  The working title here is Space Bear.

This being the age of the internet, speculation as to what “Space Bear” could mean started immediately following the picture appearing online.  What could this mean to the story?  Could the Ewoks be back?  Could it be a reference to Chewbacca?  I mean, sure, he’s sort of like a big bear.  Or could it be a reference the famed sand bears of Kallistas, introduced in the Galaxy Guide for Bounty Hunters, an expansion to the Star Wars Role Playing Game released in 1994, thus confirming that the expanded universe is alive and well and still in play???

Or it’s very possible this is just a funny working title.  Time will tell.
