Those who made it to the end of Deadpool without having to sew their busted guts back together, heard Wadey Wilson tell us that Cable will be in the sequel.
“We have no idea who we’re going to cast yet, but it could be anyone. Just need a big guy with a flat top. Mel Gibson, Dolph Lundgren, Kiera Knightly.”
Silver-haired behemoths Stephen Lang and Kevin Nash were amongst those who announced their candidacy.
But besides its title motormouth, Cable is the only character confirmed for Deadpool 2. We don’t even know if Colossus, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Weasel, or Vanessa (who would turn into Copycat), will return.
“Such a big mansion, it’s funny I only see the two of you,” Deadpool tells Nagasonic and Colossus. “It’s almost like the studio couldn’t afford another X-Man.”
With as much money the picture made, I’m sure they could afford a couple more.
Professor X
Colossus handcuffed Deadpool and told him he was going to drag him back to the Professor.
“McAvoy or Stewart? These timelines are confusing.”
Of course that big mansion that the Rusky and teenage girl house-sat belonged to Charles Xavier. At the end of the movie, Colossus got a little closer to making an X-Man out of the merc. Will he take Colossus’s wish into consideration and tour the mansion next go ’round? Xavier would have to be played by Patrick Stewart if he did show up; as Deadpool’s reintroduction into the X-Verse lives in the 2010’s.
Wolverine
Though Deadpool’s first live-action portrayal was a let down, it did open the door for him.
“Whose balls did I have to fondle to get my very own movie? I can’t tell you, but it does rhyme with ‘Pulverine’.”
The “program,” that scarred Wade’s face, curing his cancer, and made him into a superhero, was indeed the Weapon X program. In X-Men Origins: Wolverine, General Stryker did the deed. But in whatever timeline Deadpool lives in, Ajax (ahem, Francis) took the General’s place. At the end of X-Men: Days of Future Past, a new timeline veered from Origins, as the Stryker that got a hold of Logan was in fact, Mystique. Could we see these ends match up in Deadpool 2?
With the X-Force movie on its way, and Deadpool’s success, hopefully Wadey will have a spot on the team. He wasn’t interested in Colussus’s PG-13 team, but maybe he’ll like the future R-rated one. In The Wolverine, Logan and Yukio took off in a jet to God knows what. Perhaps their off-screen journey was to recruit this X-Force. In the comics, it was Cable who turned the New Mutants into such team. However, the more recent Uncanny X-Force title had Wolvie lead a black-ops version.
Mister Sinister
The Deadpool video game had our pal fight the villain with the rhyming name. Mister Sinister is actually a herald for Apocalypse. X-Men: Apocalypse only featured the title villain’s horsemen. But where was Sinister?
“Dr. Nathaniel Essex was recruited by APOCALYPSE and his genetic structure enhanced so as to provide him with virtual immortality and superhuman physical attributes. Taking the name Mister Sinister, Essex continued his forbidden experiments into the secrets of mutation, and he has played a hidden role in the upbringing of the Summers brothers, CYCLOPS and HAVOK,” says the Marvel Encyclopedia.
The mutant experimentation that Ajax and Weapon X left off with would be a great place for Sinister to pick up.
Stryfe
Since Cable will be in the movie, Stryfe could be used as a secondary villain. While Sinister’s specialty is cloning, Stryfe is a clone of Cable. It was Apocalypse who cloned Stryfe in the comics, but it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to say Sinister did it. And we all know that the best superhero battles are against themselves. See Arrow, when Count Vertigo’s hallucinations made him look like Ollie, or Agents of SHIELD, when Agent 33’s mask was damaged to permanently look like Melinda May.
Domino
Also a mercenary, Domino tagged alongside Cable, and eventually joined X-Force. Her addition would add to the girl power that Negasonic brought in the first installment. And who wouldn’t wanna see Rose McGowan made up with the white face and the black spot on her eye? Well, she was my first choice, but it looks like she wouldn’t want anything to do with an X-Men movie now.
Mojo and Spiral
Mojo hails from Mojoworld, where he serves as a sort of studio exec, using slaves from across the galaxy as entertainment. Meanwhile, Spiral scoops those slaves up to bring to Mojo’s ever-popular TV show. While these are major X-villains, they haven’t found their way to live-action, yet (unless you count the Youtube fan series, Uncanny X-Men). With their comedic appearances, Deadpool might just be the only world they would be welcomed to; Spiral, with her many arms, and swords to clink against Wade’s, and Mojo…..well, just look at him.
There has not been a date yet for Deadpool 2. But we all know that it’s on its way. There was rumor that it would take Fantastic Four 2‘s old spot. Though, FF2 might not be off the table quite just yet. X-Men: Apocalypse might have taken some steps back, but it did take some steps forward, I believe. But, as long as they continue to bring more justice to their source material, then they might be on the right track.
