As most people by this point know, star Johnny Depp and his ex-wife actress Amber Heard have been the focus of a variety of lawsuits and controversies throughout the past year. While the two have frequently been part of an ongoing series of trials, actor Johnny Depp is now attempting to have it delayed so that he can begin filming his part for Fantastic Beasts 3. This proposal to delay the lawsuit was agreed to by Amber Heard, as long as the postponement “would not entail any prejudice to her, much less unfair prejudice”. This is because Amber Heard fully intends to participate in the upcoming production for Aquaman 2, a film which Amber Heard has often times been rumored to be fired from.
As explained by Deadline, the two hope to meet on September 11 in an effort to discuss the postponement of their trial:
“The legal papers also state that Heard has agreed to meet on September 11 to discuss the potential delay and that the proposed postponement ‘would not entail any prejudice to her, much less unfair prejudice’ as she’s expected to film Aquaman 2 sometime next year.”
It’s interesting to see the two both share desires to have the court case postponed, as per the court papers where Johnny Depp suggested the postponement:
“When the Court set the current trial date in this case, Mr. Depp understood that Warner Bros. planned to shoot ‘Fantastic Beasts 3’ in London long before January 11, 2021. COVID-19 disrupted the studio’s plans, causing repeated postponements. With conditions in London having improved somewhat, Warner Bros. has now set a shooting schedule that conflicts with the trial date in this case,” the papers read.
Obviously, the biggest takeaway here is that both Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are carrying forward with their careers for the time being. This is pretty massive, especially considering the occasional rumors that neither of them would be able to find work because of their current situations. But with Johnny Depp still attached to the Fantastic Beasts 3, and Amber Heard still with Aquaman 2, it’ll be interesting to see where things go from here – which with how everything else has gone – who knows what will happen at this point.
