Last week, HitFix reported that WB has seen the film, and in short, they weren’t pleased, at least to the point of sticking to their proposed plan of releasing a Zack Snyder directed Justice League film as soon as they intended. The rumors swirling around ranged from WB not being happy with the film’s quality, to not thinking people will “get it”. All the rumors pointed to a delay for Justice League Part One, and fast-tracking a Ben Affleck standalone Batman film.
However, Entertainment Weekly has published an article confirming an April 11th production start date, with Snyder in the director’s chair. In the article, Snyder acknowledges that the studio has every reason to be antsy about a Justice League film:
“It was a little bit of an ‘about time’ moment, and I don’t blame [the studio] for feeling that way, because it’s a long time coming. But I do feel like it’s a little bit of a creative hurdle. It seems like an easy thing to do at first glance, the idea that, ‘Oh, we just get the rest of the superheroes in there.’ But you have to [establish] a world where they can exist.”
So it seems that the supposed WB “freak out” after seeing BvS: DoJ may have been much ado about nothing.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice comes out March 25th. Justice League Part One is slated for a November 17th, 2017 release.
