There has been no shortage of surprising news this year, and that tradition continues with this latest story that is about as ridiculously insane as they come. It appears that porn star Nacho Vidal was arrested on manslaughter charges after a man died following a mystic ritual where he inhaled venomous toad fumes.
The news was revealed by Spanish police, via Yahoo Finance, where they explained Nacho Vidal was taken in just last week in the southeastern Valencia region following the July 2019 death of a man. It appears that the aforementioned man was fashion photographer Jose Luis Abad.
“The police operation began following the victim’s death during the celebration of a mystic ritual based on the inhalation of venom of the bufo alvarius toad,” said a statement released by the Spanish police.

The venom secreted by the toad is known as 5-MeO-DMT, and is actually a psychedelic substance. It’s apparently been commonly compared to a psychedelic substance known as ayahuasca. The Bufo Alvarius toad is actually a rare species native to the Sonoran Desert. This is a stretch of land which reaches all the way from northern Mexico into California and Arizona.
Aside from having arrested Nacho Vidal, the Spanish police arrested several other suspects in the man’s death as well. The others that were arrested also included one of Nacho Vidal’s relatives as well as an employee, all of which were taken in for manslaughter and crimes against public health.
Apparently the ritual was being performed at Vidal’s country residence, in an attempt to generate medicinal benefits, something which occurred regularly by those involved. But it was obviously reported after the arrests were made that this “apparently harmless ancestral ritual” posed a “serious health risk”, in which they managed to lure individuals that were “easily influenced, vulnerable or who were seeking help for illnesses or addictions using alternative methods.”
The porn star’s lawyer released a statement declaring his innocence, which reads:
“Nacho is very affected by the death of this person, but considers himself innocent. With all due respect to the deceased and his family, Nacho maintains that the consumption was completely voluntary.”
