Avengers: Endgame was a massive movie for a variety of reasons. One such reason is that it concludes the story for many Marvel Cinematic Universe characters that have been around since the beginning – for example, Steve Rogers aka Captain America who was played by Chris Evans. Now according to Chris Evans, it seems that his appearance in Avengers: Endgame really was his last outing as the character, and that he doesn’t think he’ll return to play Captain America.
He explained his stance after appearing on The Graham Norton Show – when asked if it was the end for Steve Rogers. As he said, via DigitalSpy:
“Yes, I think it is,” Evans said. “It was a great run and we went out on such a high note that it would be risky to revisit it in my opinion. It was such a good experience and I think it’s better left that way.”
His comments certainly make sense, as disappointing as they might be for those Marvel fans that just can’t get enough of Chris Evans as Captain America. Of course, considering how many appearances he has made in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it does seem like it might be a fitting enough time to end things where they are.
On the bright side, the mantle itself isn’t gone. While it’s unlikely that Chris Evans will return as Steve Rogers aka Captain America, the mantle itself will be making a comeback in the upcoming Disney Plus series Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Hopefully we’ll still get some of that magic which Captain America brought to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the aforementioned Disney Plus series, even if Chris Evans won’t be the one in particular to bring it.
Of course, things have been rough on producing Falcon and the Winter Soldier due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. But hopefully the series will land soon in spite of all that.
