As all of us already know, 2020 has had a painful start with the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic over the last few months. In an effort to stop the spread of the virus, people have been told to try and stay inside as well as practice social distancing. Many celebrities have taken the opportunity to speak to their fandoms about such things, such as A Nightmare on Elm Street actor Robert Englund who urged his fans to stay inside. Now it looks like many other stars from the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise are speaking to their fans about staying inside during the Coronavirus pandemic.
As you can see in the new video linked down below, titled #StopTheNightmare, the footage unites well known individuals from the franchise to create a PSA in an effort to keep people social distancing. The video includes appearances from Heather Langenkamp, Lisa Wilcox, Mark Patton, Andras Jones, Ken Sagoes, Brooke Theiss, Toy Newkirk, Ira Heiden, Brooke Bundy as well as special effects artist Nick Benson.
It’s a nicely packed PSA against the spread of the Coronavirus and as always it’s nice seeing some of our favorite stars from the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. There’s also a #StopTheNightmare website which included some of the following description for their mission:
“In March of 2020, as stay-at-home orders went into effect across the country, Nightmare on Elm Street franchise actress Lisa Wilcox had the idea to create a Public Service Announcement to help curb the spread of COVID-19. To bring this vision to life, Lisa reached out to Chicago friends, including film producer and creative Ernesto Avina. Once involved, Ernesto placed the creative muscle in the hands of music producer and filmmaker James Wineman, aka Jimmy Con.
From there, #StopTheNightmare was born; a PSA short featuring Nightmare on Elm Street alum, and social media campaign dedicated to ARTISTS impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. As an artist, financial means revolve around gatherings, rehearsals, working on set, and live music. Thus, 100% of #StopTheNightmare merchandise
proceeds will go to The Artist Relief Project—an initiative to help artists, musicians and performers impacted.”
It’s certainly a creative way to share some positive ideas and hopefully fans of the franchise will appreciate getting to see their favorite stars unite for such a good cause. Especially during these troubling times.
