A Major Character Won’t Be Returning For ALIEN: COVENANT

    By Jacob DresslerFebruary 1, 2016

Ridley Scott returned to the Alien franchise in 2012 with Prometheus, both a spin-off and prequel to the 1979 Alien.

And whether you hated or loved it, the film was successful enough for Fox to announce a sequel. Although it seems that Ridley Scott wants to bring it closer to Alien and further from Prometheus, with the new title being Alien: Covenant.

One of the more interesting developments is that Noomi Rapace, who played Dr. Elizabeth Shaw in Prometheus, is said by director Ridley Scott to not be returning for the film.

She played one of the only two survivors. The other being Michael Fassbender’s David who is confirmed to return.

Story details are scarce, but it is said to take place ten years after Prometheus and that it will involve a new cast of characters who stumble upon an isolated planet, inhabited by the synthetic David.

It is also said to bring back all of the familiar Xenomorph creatures that the Alien franchise is known for – set for release in 2017.
