After a long period of waiting, fans were finally able to get their hands on the second season of David Fincher’s Netflix series Mindhunter. Unfortunately, it looks like there may also be a wait for any potential third season as well. Although Netflix still hasn’t greenlit Mindhunter Season 3, it looks like the would still be held back after the fact. It turns out that, according to a new report, David Fincher is holding off any plans for the series until his next movie wraps production.
More specifically, the report from THR stated:
“Talk of a third season of Mindhunter is on hold while Fincher focuses on his next feature.”
The next movie David Fincher is currently working on is titled Mank, and it’s a biopic of Citizen Kane screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz. The film will follow his process of writing Citizen Kane and the problems that arose while working on the project.
Mank stars Gary Oldman in the lead role, with Tom Burke (The Souvenir) as Orson Welles, Amanda Seyfried (First Reformed) as Marion Davies, Lily Collins (Baby Driver) as Mankiewicz’s secretary, Tuppence Middelton (Sense8) as Mankiewicz’s wife Sara, and Tom Pelphrey as Mankiewicz’s brother Joseph.
Hopefully Mindhunter will be renewed for a third season, and that fans won’t have to wait an entire two years again for the next installment. Of course, we will just have to wait and see how Netflix decides to handle the situation.
In Mindhunter Season 2…
FBI agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench probe further into the psyches of those who have done the unthinkable. With help from psychologist Wendy Carr, they apply their groundbreaking behavioral analysis to hunting notorious serial killers.
