We’ve had a massive year for movies in 2019 which have all given opportunities for a range of actors to win Best Actor at the Oscars. This is thanks to actors giving major performances with films like Joaquin Phoenix in “Joker,” Leonardo DiCaprio in “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” Robert De Niro in “The Irishman,” among a variety of other examples. But there’s a truly remarkable attempt at getting John Travolta – who made a bizarre appearance this year in a movie called “The Fanatic” – his own shot at winning an Oscar.
It appears that there is an FYC campaign now going around promoting The Fanatic. The campaign features quotes from a variety of sources that have praised John Travolta and his performance in the rather divisive film. Granted, there aren’t any specific writers credited for the quotes – only the publications that used them.
For example, one quote, attributed to CBS, says, “John Travolta nails it in this movie. His acting transcends the written word.”
As you can see, the FYC advertisement was spotted by fan Will Mavity. As he wrote:
“OMFG TRAVOLTA IS RUNNING FYC ADS FOR THE FANATIC (the movie with a 17% on Rotten Tomatoes). I swear to god this is not a bit. People made jokes about him doing this for Gotti last year and he actually did it asghfkj”

While it’s no doubt unlikely The Fanatic will win any awards that aren’t completely insulting towards the film, it is worth recognizing the effort in trying to get the film considered. It goes to show how much appeal these types of movies can generate for fans of cult type movies.
How would you feel about The Fanatic being considered for a Best Actor Oscar? Do you think the movie and John Travolta’s performance in it deserves such attention? Let us know in the comments section down below!
