While Disney is mostly known for its lighthearted fare that’s been cherished by children and families for generations, there is the occasional project that tends to get darker than most would expect. One such example is the 1990’s animated series Gargoyles which pushed limits in a variety of ways. For example, the eighth episode of its first season titled “Deadly Force” was banned from television after receiving complaints from parents. The episode features a character named Broadway who picks up a handgun and accidentally shoots another character named Elisa with it. Of course, that’s just one example of censorship regarding the series. There have been a multitude of other clips edited out for subsequent reruns. However, luckily for fans of the series, it turns out that Disney’s new streaming service Disney Plus is showing the episodes for Gargoyles uncut and in their entirety.
The news was revealed by Gargoyles fan Greg Bishansky, who stated:
“Disney+ contains the uncut and uncensored Gargoyles! Not the Toon Disney/Disney XD edits. The show hasn’t aired in this format since the mid nineties, and was only available this way on DVD.”

It’s exciting news for longtime fans of the series, especially if you’ve been following Gargoyles creator Greg Weisman. He’s been insisting fans watch the series on Disney Plus in order to increase the possibility of a revival. Hopefully with Disney Plus airing Gargoyles uncut, there could be a chance in popularizing the series once again and assisting Greg Weisman with his revival campaign.
I'm told #Gargoyles is trending! Keep it up and help us #SpreadtheWord! And please, it really helps if we consistently use #KeepBingingGargoyles as our official campaign hashtag. So #KeepBingingGargoyles on #DisneyPlus!
