We recently got our first look at the upcoming horror sequel Halloween Kills, which takes place after the events of 2018’s Halloween. The new movie promises to bring Laurie Strode back for another encounter with Michael Myers – alongside a variety of other returning characters – and it looks like plenty of Easter eggs will be making an appearance as well. In fact, the recently released footage actually shows a fun Halloween II Easter egg despite that film having been retconned from the continuity.
The Halloween II Easter egg occurs during a moment when we see Laurie Strode attached to a gurney due to her injuries inflicted by Michael Myers from the 2018 film. It’s an obvious throwback to her similar condition in Halloween II, where she was stuck to the confinement of Haddonfield Memorial Hospital after the original 1978 film.

While we don’t know the exact role that the hospital will play in Halloween Kills, we do know from previous behind the scenes images that, much like in the original Halloween II, Haddonfield Memorial Hospital does in fact come into play at some point.
And with that bit of exciting knowledge, it means that there’s plenty of potential to make Halloween Kills into both a unique sequel and exciting throwback to everything that’s come before. Or, at the very least, the original sequel to Halloween which has since been retconned.
Hopefully we’ll find out more about the plot of Halloween Kills and where exactly the story will go as we get closer to its release date next year.
Halloween Kills will bring Michael Myers back for another confrontation with Laurie Strode among others on October 16, 2020.
