One of the most iconic vampires of literature, film, and television is Count Dracula – an undead menace who has survived over a century through the collective imagination of artists and fans. There’s always an appeal in seeing a new interpretation of the character, and one of the latest projects is a BBC/Netflix miniseries promptly titled Dracula. Now you can view the first Dracula teaser trailer below!
The new miniseries stars Claes Bang as the titular Count Dracula, the bloodthirsty vampire who invaded London on a conquest for hunger and romance. The series also stars John Heffernan, Dolly Wells, Joanna Scanlan, Morfydd Clark and Lujza Richter.
The first episode of the Dracula miniseries is directed by Jonny Campbell. The second episode is directed by Damon Thomas. And, lastly, Paul McGuigan is directing the third episode of the miniseries.
The series was written and created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, the two creators behind another very popular BBC series – Sherlock. It’ll be interesting to see how they reinvent Dracula much as they did the iconic Detective Sherlock Holmes.
In the series…
“In Transylvania in 1897, the blood drinking Count is drawing his plans against Victorian London.”
The miniseries is set to be divided into three episodes, each one lasting 90 minutes. They’re expected to premiere either late 2019 or early 2020 at the latest.
It really is nice getting to see a properly produced Dracula project again. After all, Count Dracula is one of the greatest villains and monsters of all time – there’s never a bad time to have him creeping about in the shadows. Hopefully the miniseries will successfully do the book written by Bram Stoker and the legacy it’s left behind justice.
