Despite the character not actually appearing in the first installment, we still learnt a lot about Star-Lords father, namely that he is both an ‘Angel’ and a ‘Jackass’ – and an interesting actor may be in line to play the complex role in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy sequel.
The website The Wrap is reporting that Marvel is negotiations with 80’s legend Kurt Russell to play the role of Star-Lords father, although they do reveal that the studio has not officially offered Russell the coveted part yet, nor has Russell read the script, but meetings are expected to take place soon.
Given that Russell’s stock is likely to rise with the upcoming release of Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight, in which the actor plays one on the lead roles.
In the comics Peter Quills father was J’son, ruler of the planet Spartax, although director James Gunn has stated that the plot of Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2 may deviate from this origin.
