So many characters came out in Avengers: Endgame that you might’ve missed a few if you blink. Marvel’s vast collection of memorable and not so memorable characters could give audience members 1-2 generations worth of origin story films if they are so pleased. Although the character count was stacked high in the film, writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely had planned to bring one more in – and it’s pretty wild who it was.
While speaking to the NY Times, Markus and McFeely, talked about many topics regarding the film.
When asked if anyone was cut from the Avengers: Endgame, this was what the two had to say:
Markus: We did try to put T in the first [one]. We wrote a scene in which he appeared during the Titan fight. And everyone was like, what?
McFeely: Whoa. He’s got three heads. It would indicate a whole different level of architecture to the universe and I think that was too much to just throw in.
The MCU has been really embracing the cosmic side of their stories and the inclusion of the Living Tribunal would’ve been a WTF moment for people who don’t read the comics. Markus and McFeely added more in their interview with the NY Times:
Markus: The idea’s still in [Marvel Studios President] Kevin [Feige]’s court.
McFeely: Oh sure, we probably just spoiled it.
Markus: The Living Tribunal has his own streaming show.
McFeely: It’s like “Judge Judy.”
I’m thinking more of Judge Joe Brown but different strokes. Feige and the Marvel Cinematic Universe can take their films anywhere and audience members would follow. I mean, come on. People were crying for a tree and his surrogate raccoon father. Stop lying to yourself, you cried as well.
Avengers: Endgame has easily crossed a billion dollars at the box office over the film’s opening weekend and fans can’t wait to see what happens next.
