Netflix Wants Its Users To Stop Lusting Over Ted Bundy

    By Matt ConwayJanuary 30, 2019

Netflix has already made several sizable moves this year, with one of their biggest being centered around infamous serial killer Ted Bundy. The streaming platform has already dropped the documentary series The Ted Bundy Tapes this month, while Voltage has recently just released the trailer for the upcoming film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile  staring Zac Efron. Both have put Bundy and his crimes back in the spotlight, which has had some respected downsides.

Similar to the several Bird Box social media movements, both the Bundy projects have stirred up significant conversation. A lot of that conversation has been focused on Bundy’s seemingly attractive personal appearance. Hearing this news, Netflix has issued a statement to remind people of who Bundy truly is:

“I’ve seen a lot of talk about Ted Bundy’s alleged hotness and would like to gently remind everyone that there are literally THOUSANDS of hot men on the service — almost all of whom are not convicted serial murderers.”

This is something that has occurred several times with criminals, and it especially isn’t all that shocking when an attractive actor like Zac Efron is playing the role for another project. While the message is somewhat humorous in tone, I do think its important that they remind people the reality of Bundy’s actions.

The fact that more Netflix-related content is gaining this much social media presence speaks to how successful the brand is. Netflix has become commonplace with most people in the United States today, which bodes well for the company with the juggernaut of Disney likely arriving soon with their own Netflix platform.
