For anyone familiar with Mary Lambert’s unnerving 1989 adaptation of Pet Sematary, you will undoubtedly remember the terrifying and disturbing Zelda. Now the unsettling character is back featuring in the latest TV spot for the new adaptation by Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch, arriving in April 2019. While it’s only a preview, it’s certainly enough to send chills down one’s spine.
The character Zelda, originally played by Andrew Hubatsek, is the sister of Rachel Creed and she suffers from Spinal Meningitis. Zelda dies in the backroom of the family house and later comes back to haunt her sister and absolutely terrify us on screen. While only having a brief part in the original Pet Sematary, Zelda’s terrifying scene has certainly left its mark.
In this new adaption of Pet Sematary, young actress Alyssa Brooke Levine has been cast to play the emaciated character, bringing all the chills back to our screens. Thirteen-year Levine will play a younger version of the character than was previously seen in Mary Lambert’s 1989 adaptation, but as we can see; it will be equally as terrifying.
Pet Sematary, based on the novel by Stephen King follows the story of Dr. Louis Creed and his wife Rachel who relocate from Boston to rural Maine with their two young sons. Soon after they discover a mysterious burial ground concealed deep in the woods near the family’s new home. As soon as the family settles into their new life a series of tragic events encompass them. Little do they know after tragedy strikes, this will trigger a terrifying chain reaction, which unleashes an evil so profound, with horrifying consequences.
In the Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch adaption, Amy Seimetz (Alien: Covenant) and Jason Clarke (Winchester) are cast as our new Louis and Rachel Creed. Twins Hugo Lavoie and Lucas Lavoie play Gage Creed and Jeté Laurence has been cast as Ellie Creed.
