Today we got the new trailer for the upcoming Halloween movie reboot, and fans were impressed. The trailer features Michael Myers‘ return to Haddonfield to catch up with is old pal, Laurie Strode. So far in the previously released promotional material for this movie there have been a coupe of noticeable nods to other installments of the Halloween franchise, and the new trailer also delivers.

If you haven’t yet seen the trailer, it’s below:
Although Halloween will ignore all of the previous instalments aside from John Carpenter’s original film, and it acts as a direct sequel to that set 40 years later, Director David Gordon Green has confirmed that fans of the franchise can expect references to the other films. He said:
“This film isn’t one to narratively recognize any of the films other than the original Halloween, but we very much enjoy the other films and there’s a lot of very subtle shout-outs to a number of things that I think the big fans — the people that know the films scientifically — will get a kick out of, hopefully.”
Staying true to this, a subtle but satisfying Halloween II easter egg features in the new trailer.
In the trailer we see Michael steal a knife from the kitchen of an older lady, and if you thought she looked familiar you would be right. She is dressed the exact same way as Norma Elrod in the beginning of the second Halloween movie. Not only that, but the layout of her home also looks exactly the same. This interesting homage was first reported by Bloody Disgusting.
In the first trailer there was a subtle reference to the third Halloween movie, in the form of Laurie Strode passing a group of children wearing the silver shamrock skull mask from Halloween 3: Season of the Witch.

Then a promotional image shared at the end of August offered a link to the original, 1978 movie. In the shot we see Laurie Strode holding her daughter in a protective embrace. If you look behind the pair, hanging on the wall is the same hat that hung on Laurie’s bedroom wall in the first movie.
Watch Halloween on October 19.
