Most fans are thinking about what will happen in Avengers 4, but no one really has an idea what will happen. Especially when it comes to the ending. We do know that it will be an ending for the current 10-year story arc of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While we don’t know exactly what that means, one fan made ending has surfaced online – and it’s something that MCU fans definitely don’t want to see on their screens at the end of the film.
Surely at least one prominent Marvel character will be gone (we’re looking at you Iron Man or Captain America) – but all of them? Now that would be one very insane and depressing ending. Kevin Feige has gone on record saying the film will give a big ending:
“Characters like Spider-Man or Batman or James Bond or Iron Man, who have been around for so long and are always refreshed in comic books or novels or movies, you don’t necessarily get that kind of an endpoint — and we wanted to do that, which is what these next two Avengers films are. It doesn’t mean the MCU is coming to a close, by any means. But it means the narrative that started when we began 10 years ago will have a conclusion.”
He’s also said it will be a definitive ending:
“The best stories do come to an end. Return of the Jedi was an ending for a long time and as a 10-year-old in 1983 that carried me through 30 years until there was a sequel. That hasn’t happened before in the superhero genre. A new actor comes in and a new storyline starts right away.
We wanted to do it this way because we think that the best stories have a definitive ending to a storyline. That’s certainly what’s going to happen next year with Avengers 4.”
Avengers 4 is currently scheduled to hit theaters in May 3rd, 2019 (possibly sooner) – while a title reveal and trailer are expected soon.
